Are you a fan of Major Crimes? If the cancelled TNT show was picked up by another channel, would you watch a seventh season?
As we reported earlier, TNT has cancelled the crime drama after six seasons. The series follows the further investigations of the detectives in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Major Crimes division. Stars include Mary McDonnell, Tony Denison, GW Bailey, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Robert Gossett, Phillip P. Keene, Graham Patrick Martin, Kearran Giovanni, and Jonathan Del Arco.
In a recent Facebook post, creator James Duff says he hopes Major Crimes will be picked up by either another network like CBS or a streaming service like Hulu. However, Warner Brothers TV Studio owns the former TNT series and it’s unlikely another distributor will acquire a show they don’t own outright:
Number 1 question (no competition!): Couldn’t Major Crimes continue on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or CBS All access? Or even another cable company?
This answer has two parts.Transferring Major Crimes to a streaming platform would probably be a net plus in subscriptions for the company that took the risk. I am sure a large part of our audience would follow. But the acquisition of Major Crimes would be purely a business decision.
There was a time, in the not too distant past, when executives would not have cared from whence a decent drama or comedy originated, as long as it drew a crowd on the day-of-air. Today, most programming chiefs ask themselves, “But does this a show reflect my brand?” or, “Will this drama/comedy make my company some place the ‘cool kids’ avoid?” Though I think this is a little like suggesting people will change grocery stores if the Kettle Potato Chips are too near the Pringles, there are people who take this notion quite seriously. It’s possible my grasp of the concept is muddied; I have never cared about being cool. Anyway! I don’t believe the audience was watching Major Crimes because it was on TNT; I believe they were watching TNT in order to see Major Crimes. I could be wrong.
Another impediment to going elsewhere: Major Crimes is the property of Warner Brothers Television Studio; most other distribution platforms are focused on not only airing new shows, but also owning them. This is a bit of inside baseball (and I promise not digress into a discussion about the Sherman Anti-Trust Act), but it is a challenging factor in deciding where else Major Crimes could live.
Nevertheless, would you watch Major Crimes if it moved to another network? Tell us what you think.
Season six of Major Crimes premieres on TNT on October 31st at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
I would make all due effort to follow Major Crimes to just about any other platform.
Yes I would and at the same time I would not watch TNT channel for cancelling Major Crimes, I Truly love Major Crimes!
There is no question that I would follow #MajorCrimes where ever it goes! Master storytelling, superior acting, & the #2 Most Watched Scripted Cable Drama only behind The Walking Dead – whoever gives it a new home will be getting a gem!!! We are fighting, & will continue to fight to #SaveMajorCrimes!

What kind of question is this?? OF COURSE YES!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ #MajorCrimesFamily
We would happily follow Major Crimes to another network. We watch it every Saturday and Sunday on the CW, and the new episodes when they air on TNT. That show has a phenomenal cast, truly wonderful writers, directors and producers, and their production team is exceptional. Everyone, from Captain Raydor, to Provenza, Flynn, Tao, Sanchez, Sykes, Morales, Hobbes, Buzz, Rusty, Kendall, and Dr. Joe are like old friends. The complexity of the cases, and the resolutions keeps our attention and gives us mysteries to follow closely. We bought the dvds of The Closer, and now we are buying the ones… Read more »
Yes I would follow Major Crimes to another channel if it gets picked up by another network or streaming service.
I currently pay to watch Major Crimes. Once it finishes I will be cancelling my subscription but if it were to be picked up by another network I would happily pay to watch Major Crimes where ever it may be aired. Until then I will continue to support the #SaveMajorCrimes campaign in the hopes that a show as great as Major Crimes will be picked up by a new network.
Definitely. Come on CBS.
I would follow Major Crimes to its new channel as always.
Yes I would follow Major Crimes to new channel!
Terribly disappointed in this cancellation. I was a fan from the get-go! Having grown attached to the squad/team since ‘The Closer’, I enjoyed being able to follow them. I would indeed follow this to another station/channel/platform. Also, it’s highly unlikely that I would watch whatever replaces the show as I have not liked anything that has aired on TNT all summer
