Starring a pair of sitcom veterans, Melissa & Joey revolves around Mel Burke (Melissa Joan Hart) and Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence). She’s a young politico who must take in her sister’s two teenage kids (Taylor Spreitler and Nick Robinson). She hires Joe, an out-of-work commodities trader, to be the family’s new “manny” and mishaps ensue.
If the premise of Melissa & Joey seems familiar, it’s probably because it sounds a lot like Who’s the Boss?, the sitcom that ran for eight seasons on ABC. But, how will this new TV show fare? As well as its predecessor or will it be cancelled after just one season, like so many other ABC Family sitcoms?
Melissa & Joey debuted on August 17th to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.15 million total viewers. That marked a record for an ABC Family premiere in both total viewership and the key demo. The second half-hour performed about as well, with a 0.9 rating and 2.18 million viewers.
But, can those numbers hold up? The answer is “yes” if the second week’s numbers are any indication. In week two, the numbers held steady in the all-important demo rating. Total viewership declined a bit, to 1.92 million.
If viewership can stay at these levels, it’s a safe bet that Melissa & Joey will be renewed for a second season.
But, what do you think? Is Melissa & Joey worth watching? Would you keep it on the air or just cancel it?

Are you seriously asking this question???! KEEPKEEPKEEEP!
KEEP FOR SURE!!! I like so much this series!! I really enjoyed too the chemistry between Joey and Melissa! The serie is so funny!!
I really enjoyed the chemistry of Joey and Melissa…a little to stiff in the dialog and you have to have more fun with the story line. Not sure about the supporting actors (relatives). Do love the assistant. And the Daddy (Politician) works. Hope it makes the cut. 😀
love this Melissa and Joey. Keep for sure
Melissa and Joey is a great show!
i love this show. it is like whos the boss but up to date soooo cute i love it
Keep it. Part of the charm of the show is that it is so lame at times it’s like watching a sitcom from the 80’s such as The Facts of Life, Gimme a Break, and Different Strokes, only not as funny. Often times the jokes miss badly and sometimes really badly. But, I love seeing Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence in this comedy about a single surrogate mom raising two kids with the help of her manny. It has the cute factor, two of my favorite stars from Dancing With the Stars, and an innocence that lures in families… Read more »
Keep it. It’s funny. XD
Melissa & Joey is a fun new show..both stars have great on screen chemistry..it is also nice to see a comedy filmed with a live audience..the actors are good at their job!
great show KEEP IT FOR SURE!
Just got home from California where we watched a taping of this show live last Friday night and it was a BLAST! Melissa and Joey have tremendous chemistry, not only with each other and the rest of the cast, but also with the live audience. During breaks in filming, Joey would often dance for us! He really has great charisma.
We don’t get this show yet in Canada (that I know of) but I hope this series makes it because it is a cute show and a refreshing change from a lot of the trash on tv out there today.
KEEP! awesome show great comedy
I think this show is WONDERFUL!! Its good clean fun. You cant find that on tv anymore!
Cancel. This show is just terrible! It’s jokes from the basement of ABC and a template format sitcom. Joey is an awful actor and I want so much to like Melissa but…
I watch Melissa and Joey. And I like it. I personally think it sounds a lot like ‘The Nanny”. But both are funny.
Melissa Joan Hart, and Joey Lawrence, paired up in “My Fake Fiance” do work well together. I think the show has a lot of potential.
I agree. The 1st thing I thought of was The Nanny.
These two sitcom actors were veterans before they were twenty. They have great timing and given a fair shake they will have you rolling with laughter.
By all means, Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence will entertain us, leave us each week wanting more!
