ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
I was wondering what happened to Men in Trees, now I know. I thought the first couple of episode with too obvious with relationships and moved too fast to match up with the timing of events in the show. But then it started to make sense why the writers did that. So long as the storyline can be fresh and subject new, it works now for me. I really got hooked. I kept looking for it on the cable schedules and couldn’t find it. Now I know why. Very disappointed it didn’t come back. There are very few lighthearted shows… Read more »
Men in Trees is a breath of fresh air in the world of crime solving, lawyer laden, reality TV sing alongs, or that is ‘sing against’ contests.
Time slots adjoining Greys and Men is the best of all worlds. Enough drama/reality and humorous departure cleverly written to keep men and women, young and old coming back EVERY week.
Thank you for listening and acting. 🙂
i agree, please bring it back!!! i love men in trees. is there anyone we can write to???
Please bring back men in trees i really liked it
I agree with all of the above – pleae bring it back soon. It was one of the best shows on TV – loved all the characters.
I looked forward to watching Men In Trees on Thursday.
Bring it back soon.

I have been looking for my favorite tv show for a while.
you bring a good show on the air and then it disappears. I like House and Ghost Whisperer and some othrers but Men In Trees is my favorite and you guys take it off of the air!
Men in Trees was one of the most refreshing shows on the air. It was so nice to have a good show that didn’t show women killed or blood and guts. I mean I like a few shows like Criminal Minds but don’t we have enough depressing stuff in real life. Men was the best and so unique. A cross between Sex and the City and Northern Exposure. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!
Please bring back Men in Trees – it is so light hearted and nice. It takes us away from the norm. Tired of all the one parent sitcoms, even some of the two parent sitcoms suck. Men in Trees has a story to it and leaves us wanting more. I’m about ready to drop ABC altogether if it doesn’t come back soon. Nah, I like Lost and Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal and Ughly Betty too much, but having Men in Trees back would be like the cherry on top!
My husband and I watched every episode together. We also have friends who watched the show and scheduled an evening a week for it. Please don’t cancel it, and please do bring it back. (And, advertise it before you start back up again so we can know.)
Thanks!
What happened with Men in Trees? We had a ladies night with a group of us. This was our “Book Club” so to speak. We all haven’t found a show that we agree to watch as a group again. Life is hard enough give us a show that takes us away from reality if just for one hour a week. Crime shows, all we have to do is watch the news for that. This was a show that many people enjoyed. BRING IT BACK PLEASE!
I really enjoyed this show. I couldn’t believe that after I got hooked, they went and took it off. I also had trouble finding it most of the time. I won’t watch the replacement one either. I am upset. It is difficult enough to find anything decent to watch. I like this kind of show.
Please bring back the series Men In Trees. I couldn’t believe it when it disappeared without a trace. What were the tv execs thinking when they put “October Road” on instead. Why mess a good thing up? Also, ABC’s Addison is a fool if she thinks Private Practice is going to last. When the show flops, I’m sure she will be wanting to come back to Grey’s Anatomy. I love her on Grey’s. She plays such a strong character that they could focus more on.
Please bring back Men in trees. I absolutely love this show. I have missed it! This show is the best one out there.
please bring back men in trees october road was ok but trees is better than anything new on t.v. put it on any day but bring it back. i’m getting to the point where i don’t want to watch new shows because you just cut them off.please no more lawyer or doctor shows we have enough trees is a breath of fresh air.
