ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
I cannot believe they have taken MIT off the air. Please put it back on the air. It was one of the few shows my husband and I enjoyed watching together. All the characters were different and fun. PLEASE PUT IT BACK ON. THANK YOU!
Bring back “Men in Trees”!!! Loved Anne Heche and group!! It was a wonderfully refreshing show!!
I really miss Men in Trees this season…I hope you will decide to air it…I don’t really watch any other program and am severely disappointed in this…when I saw an sneak peak episode of the wives program on Sunday night, there I saw Marin’s boyfriend in bed w/someone on that program and thought what is going on!!!!! Please put Men in Trees back on…there are a lot of us out there who are fans! Thanks from “it plays in Peoria, IL”!
I love the series which I watch in Portugal on Fox Life. For once it is the real deal. I am so fed up with plastic tv with everyone looking gorgeous all the time! Not real life!!! This series feels real and the beauty of the views filmed are also great!
I am english and would like to congratulate you on this series. Please continue to air it. I see you have axed it for the moment in the states. I beg you to give it another chance. We love it. Thank you.
i think its a shame that good family type shows are being taken off the air, First Reba, then men in trees. they need to bring shows like they use to have on family orienated, not the trash they have on. all the killing & drugs and we wonder why the world has went to hell in a hand basket. Bring Men in trees back at a earlier viewing times and bring back some of the old down to earth shows.
I cannot believe they cancelled Men in Trees! There are several of us who got together to watch this show…as difficult as they made it to keep up. They never gave this show a chance! It is ridiculous….they kept Wife Swap! or Samantha Who….or Supernanny…or Pushing Daisies….but cancelled Men in Trees, October Road and Women’s Murder Club! Who is making the decisions for this network???
I too, waited and waited for the strike to be over and for the new fall line up..when I got my tv guide the first show I looked up was Men in Trees and it wasn’t there??? I was so confused I went right to this blog and discovered the bad news. I really don’t understand how they make the decisions they do on what to keep and what not to keep. The show didn’t have a chance the way they moved it around…I pray someone else will pick it up!
I could not believe they took Men In Trees off the air. It was one of the most entertaining shows Ive ever seen. Never predictable…always fresh…and usually something the viewer could relate to in their own lives.
Who decides this? Just because maybe a few ” higher up ” with authority didnt persoanlly like it…off it goes?
I would say the majority of the viewers were as shocked as I was when it was removed.
PLEASE bring it back on the air…We need real entertainment back !

For some reason, the studio hasn’t made the show available on DVD or iTunes. What’s more, they haven’t announced any plans to release the show either. Hopefully that will change soon.
Does anyone know if Men in Trees can be bought on DVD?
Isn’t this the way it goes, You find a show that you enjoy and they take it off the air. I don’t have many shows that I enjoy watching, but this was one i did. The scenery was beautiful, it was light and refreshing. The actors on the show seemed to click together. I hope they put it back on the air.
I agree with all the fans of Men in Trees. What a fantastic show it is … was. The scariest part of it all is that noone is going to listen to fans or cares to bring back such a quality and heartwarming show because they just make their selfish decisions based on who knows what. It is totally frustrating…well perhaps they were making room for some more killing and violence and lawyer /medical shows out there. Where’s the chillin’ out idea gone? Global hugs to all the wonderful MIT actors and fans. Luvya Anne H xx that role was… Read more »
Why is it that when you finally find a decent show on TV that touchs our hearts, souls, and funny bones, someone , in some office , somewhere, decides to cancels it? It’s like fixing something that was never broken to begin with. Men in Trees needs to be “un-cancelled” so that America has a chance to “escape” from the stress and strain of everyday life, not to mention other shows that only reinforce the stress and strain of everyday life. Please come back “Men in Trees”.
An is a Beautiful Gorgeous Sexy Hot Lady !!
We love men in Trees. The writing was excellent. Please cancel one of those trashy
shows and keep Men in Trees. Sometime its very hard to believe Disney owns this station. What can we do to keep this show? Maybe another station will pick it up.
