The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

I really loved this new show, I didn’t miss an episode. I even got my husband hooked. I am not to happy that it is being cancelled. The CBS execs didn’t really give Miami Medical a chance in hell of making it when it was on at 10pm on Friday nights. CBS sucks.
I am very upset that CBS is cancelling Miami Medical. It is a great show and actually has more medicine than Grey’s Anatomy.
Why do they always cancel the good ones? It barely got started. What a disappointment.
CBS really needs to bring this show back I thought it was really good should be on another night than friday tho!
I’m outrage that they have cancelled Miami Medical after e very few episodes. They gave
them a very, very bad time slot. I will never, ever watch my favorite network (cbs) again.
They kept other crappy shows, & never gave this one a chance.A very well written & acted
show. Shame on you, CBS.
So sad to hear the loss of Miami Medical and Ghost Whisperer. Hopefully a more intelligent network will pick them up and we can move over and watch.
I am very frustrated that Trauma, Three Rivers and Miami Medical are all going away. All were compelling and well written. Give shows some time to build audiences rather than rip them away before they have a chance; remember MASH, Cheers & Seinfeld?? Also, Flash Forward? That would have had an awesome second season when there was another black out; now we’ll never know. Why can’t TNT, USA or FX pick up some of these shows like they did with Southland?
Horrible time slots get terrible ratings. I too will no longer be watching this network.
I am very angry! Seems like everytime there is actually a show that all in home really like, it abruptly stops! I have been wondering what happened to Trauma, a show that my household really enjoyed, just one night it was not on! but in its place was Law & Order. Now CBS is cancelling Miami Medical!! What gives??? I am fed up with all the reality TV crapola, enough with adult cartoons, give me back my television! I know why Ghost Whisperer is being cancelled, ever since some knucklehead writers had Jim die, but come back possessing the body… Read more »
Each show had a well thought out plot! Finally a show that had substance and it falls short? The characters were great and real. No wonder it was cancelled… Shame on CBC.
All my medical shows have been cancelled. My husband and I loved Miami Medical, Mercy, Trauma, and Three Rivers. Also gone are Numbers, which I loved, and Moonlight went before I could protest! Who is the idiot that makes these decisions?
I agree with you about idiots making these decisions!! Taking Flash Forward off for 3 months even though the story line ran in real time was about as dumb (dumber) than it gets.
Trauma, Miami Medical, Numb3rs, Mercy, Moonlight will all be sorely missed!!!
What a shame! All the show you cancelled were watched weekly in and home and really enjoyed. We have friends that watched them too! i DO NOT KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GETTING YOUR RATINGS FROM BUT YOU NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB. Everyone I talk to loves the shows; Numb3rs, Miamia Medical, Trauma, Moonlight, and Mercy. We did not catch Ghost Whisperer but probably would have loved it too. It is so frustrating to get hooked to a show watch it faithfully week after week then poof it is gone! This is our entertainment give us a chance to… Read more »
i agree with you i watched these shows faithfully for years and now cbs pulls them like there trash i loved these shows and gave loyalty as a fan to them this is a very sad and painful heartache to me i was a huge fan of ghost whisperer i wish the big stations would ASK THERE PUBLIC what shows they want to watch as all the new shows on tv are sex sex sex or reality put back on the good shows i like thanks for your time mr niblock a ghost whisperer fan and not cbs fan any… Read more »
I suspect that if a show appeals to my demographic (50+year old) is the kiss of death for a show, I was a great fan of JAG, Law and Order, Numb3rs, and Miami Medical. All gone or soon going. To be replaced with what, 1/2 hour laugh track enhanced comedies, or persish the thought another version of Survivor or Donald Trumps ill couffed hair and attitude. The death of Lawand Order hits especially hard. I read that TNT dictated that L&O will not have a 21st season. Since when does the syndicator dictate the terms ???
I think it’s a huge mistake cancelling Miami Medical, but considering CBS’s track record for cancelling great shows ( Shark, Moonlight, Ghost Whisperer, now Miami Medical) it makes sense of a network who is falling through the cracks. That’s alright I still have ABC and CW to watch. As far as CBS goes, good bye.
I know the show won’t be back for a 2nd year. CBS should’ve pulled the plug a while ago.
