In February, CBS gave early renewals for eleven of the network’s popular series. One cult favorite missing from the list was the freshman romantic series Moonlight. The series had been performing decently on Friday nights but, because of the writers strike, there haven’t been any new episodes in months. The network is producing four new episodes for this season and will begin airing April 25th. Before giving the go-ahead for season two, CBS likely wants to see if anyone remembers the series.
Fans of the vampire series aren’t waiting to see if the cancellation axe falls before starting campaigns to save it. “Operation: Renew Moonlight” kicked off yesterday and the folks from three fan sites aren’t April Fooling around. They’ve united to encourage fans to fill out a campaign form and send it along with a clove of garlic to Nina Tassler, the president of CBS. Check out Moonlight-United.com for more information.
In another effort, fans wanting to draw attention to the series are teaming up with the Red Cross and YouChoose.net for a weeklong blood drive. The campaign plans have impressed series star Alex O’Loughlin enough to become a spokesman for the Red Cross.

The “Blood Drive to Save Moonlight Campaign” will be held from April 18th through April 27th (corresponding with the start of new episodes) in cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. There are over 4,000 pledges to date and fans are being invited to donate their time, blood or cash to support the effort and the Red Cross. Blood drive participants will be given a special t-shirt as a thank-you. For more information, head on over to MoonlightBloodDrive.org.
CBS announces their 2008-09 schedule in May so we should know if the fans’ hard work has paid off by then. Stay tuned!
Please leave MOONLIGHT on now and have it come on again next season
I agree totally with MJ. This is the best show to come out of CBS in a long time. This is the only show during the strike that I made sure was TiVoed (on 2 tvs) so that I could watch during that. I will plan my Friday around that show. In fact I would not let my sister schedule her c-section at that time because of that show. I love this show. I love the cast & the storyline. Please do not remove this show.
This show is truly inspired… The chemistry between Mick, Josef, and beth incredibly mesmerizing.
There are very few shows I choose to watch anymore in this day of instant, regurgitated rubbish. So much has already been done… such lack of originality. This is a shining gem amongst the waste. Very entertaining with characters clearly chosen with thought, care, and foresight of the scintilating storylines to come. We are definitely left wanting more.
It may be a recycling of “Forever Knight.” But, it’s a well-done recycling! Or, at least, better done than Lifetime’s “Blood Ties.” If for no other reason than Mick Saint John was a plain old, 20-century working stiff at the time he got vampirized. Not a 13th-century Belgian aristocrat, or the “love-child” of a 15th-century British monarch.
And, he’s certainly proven that one doesn’t have to be nobly-born to do noble things!
I am urging you to keep moonligh to on the air. Change the days, time what ever. Its a good show and it works so keep it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
BRAVO CBS you have produced a show that is totally worth watching and become such a phenomenon that the fan base ranges all over the world. Moreover, there are more people catching on by reading the blog pages and all the fan websites. You have actually had a breakthrough on what is enjoyable to watch. Before Moonlight, I would watch Ghost Whisperer and then flick from station to station until Numb3rs came on. Not anymore!! You have made the lineup for Friday nights on CBS astral!! In fact, I have found myself captivated by each show and find myself wondering… Read more »
Moonlight is an extremely engaging show. Alex O’Loughlin does a superb job. Quite honestly, shows like Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Survivor–suck. They had their moments and that’s it. Time’s up. People get tired of crap like that. Shows like Moonlight, Ghost Whisperer, Numbers, The Unit. Those are engaging, excited and informative to watch. Come on CBS, for years you have been behind ABC, NBC and sometimes even Fox (you should be embarassed about that) Step up your game and leave these good shows on.
I would not like to th ‘f’ word when I think about the management of TV networks, but what the hell are they doing. The cancel all the shows that I (and many others) like to present shows made for low IQ people. Oh… maybe they are in the category. And I am not only speaking of Moonlight and CBS, but NBC, FOCKs and others. The only keep the shows for desperately retarded.
Why cancel such a great show?? I much rather watch Moonlight, and the great acting than those reality shows…..I personally look forward to this show every Friday night, and if I’m not home I tape it! It is fabulous and very engaging! If you want to cancel something how about the reality TV ones…and leave the good stuff alone!
I hope this show doesn’t go off the sir because it is the only show I watch on CBS. Moonlight is a good show and it has everything you could ask out of a show
pls don’t cut the only vampire show i like to watch. it the only thing that keeps me home.
keep the show running……
For petes sake, stop stealing all of the good shows. Moonlight is one of the 3 reasons I watch CBS on Friday night. It is bold different and better than having another news show. Put Price is Right back on daytime, and give back the one thing people want. People want different and Moonlight is that, and gives me a reason to stay home on Friday nights.
Stop taking away the good stuff and replacing it with reality shows. We need some fiction in our lives from time to time
Please renew it. One of my favorite shows. The characters fit the parts perfectly.
please continue” MoonLight” the rest of this season and again next season. It is my favorite
show and I can’t wait for each episode Friday nights; it is on Friday night where I live. It is a very innovative, intriguing story with great character development and like Alex O’Loughlin, I have always been fascinated with vampires. Please, please, please keep the show going.
please do not get ax moonlight it is one of my favorite shows we have to many reality shows taking over good shows that should stay. It is an amazing different kind of show but i enjoy it and look foward to watching it after gost whispers. If its timing then usually there is nothing worth wild to watch on Sat. evenings maybe they can change the day to Sat instead of thinking its not working. give it more time to entise the home bodies i am sure it will do well . thanks just wanted to say how much… Read more »
