What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. Doctor Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring physician whose goal is to fix a broken medical system and to provide exceptional care to the people who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him, and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated New Amsterdam Medical Center. Those working with Goodwin include Dr. Lauren Bloom (Montgomery), the head of the ER; oncologist Dr. Helen Sharpe (Agyeman); cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Sims); psychiatrist Dr. Iggy Frome (Labine); and Dr. Vijay Kapoor (Kher), head of the Neurological Department.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of New Amsterdam averaged a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.09 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 28% in the demo and down by 14% in viewership. Find out how New Amsterdam stacks up against other NBC TV shows.

Will NBC cancel or renew New Amsterdam for season three? Considering that the series follows NBC’s biggest shows, the ratings should be better. However, I think they are still good enough to nab New Amsterdam a third season renewal. I’ll keep a hungry eye on the ratings and update this page with breaking developments. Yea! It’s not canceled! New Amsterdam is one of the best shows on television. I’m so glad it was not canceled. Very good story lines, so real, great actors and love each one of their personalities. I can’t wait until it starts.
I can’t find New Amsterdam anywhere. It seems to have been replaced by Transplant, which is very much like New Amsterdam
I love New Amsterdam, especially Dr,Max. The story lines are real, thought provoking and heartwarming. We need more shows like this!!!

This is now my favorite TV show. I love all the characters but especially Max. All the actors are superb and there is plenty of material to keep it interesting for a long time.

Love this show! My husband, our kids and I look forward to it every week. The characters are very relatable and while the issues that it tackles are very hard-hitting and relatable, it isn’t trashy and is still something that I am not scared to watch with my family. I really appreciate that. Love the actors and the characters that they play. As a nurse myself, I would love to work for Max! Great job NBC!
