What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the Password TV series is a word guessing competition that is based on a television format that debuted in 1961. In this game, contestants from across the country and all walks of life are partnered with celebrities to face off in the ultimate game of words. In addition to new contestants, in this incarnation, players from the 1980s versions return to see if they still have what it takes. Celebrity/contestant duos compete for cash prizes by guessing a secret password using just one-word clues. The contestant that wins two of three rounds, moves onto the bonus round, where a contestant can take home a $25,000 prize. The show is hosted by Keke Palmer and Jimmy Fallon is a recurring celebrity player. Other celebrities include Yvette Nicole Brown, Tony Hale, Jon Hamm, Chelsea Handler, Heidi Klum, Joel McHale, Chrissy Metz, Martin Short, J.B. Smoove, and Meghan Trainor.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Password averaged a 0.47 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.17 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Will NBC cancel or renew Password for season two? Password has been around for decades and is also a relatively inexpensive show to produce. The network has a long-standing relationship with NBC so I suspect that Password has a very good chance of being renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. I agree, don’t cancel Password. This is one show that is fun and very entertaining. We need something to laugh at. I LOVE Keke AND Jimmy. Keep them both. I am 65 years old and appreciate the humor.
I love this show!! The hostess is so cute, funny, and entertaining without vulgar insinuations like some family shows; thank you! Jimmy definitely enriches the show with his fun personality! Finally, a great family show that kids and older viewers can enjoy and look forward to each week! PLEASE don’t cancel! We need more clean fun these days!
I’ve always liked Password back in the 60’s and 70’s and was glad to see them bring it back. I like the new version but I’d like it better if Jimmy Fallon wasn’t on every episode. He’s too much of an attention hog and too hyper in that pursuit. Since he’s a producer, I’m guessing we’re stuck with him.
Even with him on every episode, I’m hoping they will renew the show.
I loved Password back in the day; still enjoy the occasional reruns. The new show is OK, but it’s a bit loud and antic in comparison. The audience noise, Keke and especially Jimmy Fallon are a bit over-the-top. I enjoy word play and humor, but I found myself wanting to mute it at times and just read captions instead.
Could go either way.
Please bring back Password, it’s an amazing show & I love Jimmy Fallon on the show. I love how the game is played & how the clues are given & love Keke Palmer as well. I laugh a lot with Password, great show, I love it!!!!

I love the revised Password. Koke Palmer is a great host, animated & fun, so isJimmy Fallon, I absolutely love him. I’m not looking for or expecting another Betty White. To expect Jimmy to be Betty is unfair and non-sensical. There is only one Betty White, so let Jimmy Fallon be himself. Please bring it back for Season 2.

Keke Palmer is the host which makes PASSWORD so GREAT. I LOVE HER. I am a YOUNG 78 grandma. I came to the USA in Dec 1964 from France. In Aug. 1965 the first of my 3 Stooges was born. Long story short – Password was my first English teacher for very long time. Now it is keeping my brain exercising. I WANT PASSWORD AND KEKE BACK asap.
I sure hope the show “Password will be renewed. A very good and entertaining show. We really enjoy the show and want it definitely renewed
