CBS has already cancelled Person of Interest so the ratings don’t matter as much for the final, fifth season. However, if the numbers are strong enough, could the network or studio decide to make a sixth season anyway? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
6/22 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Person of Interest averaged a 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season instead?
CBS has cancelled other good shows in the past and later tried to bring them back because CBS realized it made a mistake. However, the actors already moved on to other shows. This show (POI) was very good, and I am sure that CBS will realize, albeit too late, that it should not have cancelled POI. Perhaps another network will pickup the show. That would be great! Since the producers may kill off all the characters for the finale, it is probably highly unlikely we will see POI again. And that’s a shame! Another CBS error in judgement!
I have often said that they are doing a Bourne movie on tv every week. That the show continues to captivate and take risks and go new places is a tribute to all involved. I will truly miss it.
I don’t fit into your focus age group at 65, but my husband and I love Person of Interest, please bring it back!
I have just watched the most amazing episode of POI. I have not missed one show since the beginning episode. I was moved by the demise of several characters. I have never watched a show that was as intriguing and had such superb actors. I am so sad that it will be ending. I know that I will be absent as a Cbs viewer, through I am sure that will really make a difference! I can only dream that somewhere someone will decide to pick up this treasure and move forward with it.
I have just finished viewing poi 5/31/16. AMAZING!, How could someone lack the intelligence to recognize the quality of these outstanding actors, and the intricate plots that actually require attention in order to understand. SHAME on decision ma keys who decided the fate of this show. I will not be enticed to tune into CBS ever: it appears that quality is not important but once the dollar signs. How sad for us. I can only that someone would have the intelligence to reinstate this classic.
CBS needs to keep this show! Paint your way out of the corner you painted “the machine” into when the writers introduced “Samaritan” and then get back on track by taking out that regime. You’ve got some great actors on this show who have built a family. It got lost when the other computer came on line. You can fix this! Keep this series and get the machine to see her ability to outsmart a hacker and an evil entity by joining her human family in a more concrete way.
It’s sad one of the best action show on tv is going to be cancelled, as far as I know there is no best show after 4 or 5 season, Castle got 8 seasons and supernatural going to 12th, why can’t this show at least get 6 or 7. I had fun watching 80’s shows, after that there were some which were good and few among them got cancelled.
Maybe it’s time to say goodbye to American shows…
horrible ratings continue. even WGN is LOSING money with the reruns, this show is dead. and has been for over two seasons.
What’s your beef? (Forgive me if you were making a statement about the general public, but you haven’t made it clear if you do infact find this show appealing…) Why do you value ratings so highly? Do you base all your decisions on what other people think? Point out to me something that is truly wrong with this show…
And I don’t want to hear some opinionated broadway-perspective statement about how the actors put on a poor or cheesy performance on screen.
I’m in love with this story arc. Machine Wars. Samarithan vs Machine. Way better than the Early Seasons. Too bad it’s gonna end :'(
Agreed. Not sure why you got thumbs down for this comment when the person before you made such a negative statement.
I love this show please don’t end the TV series!
Why compare rating when no advertisement to promote and it’s been over a year to come back what other show would have that high rating hope Netflix picks it up
It’s been shopped to all the other networks. No one wants it.
Truth… but not sure why this got 5 thumbs up…??? People appearantly really love factual statments.
I have tired of the computer wars and preferred the early seasons. Nothing wrong with having weekly stories as well as a season story arc.
I love some of the negative comments here. What , are we in year 20 year of NCIS. A show that reuses old scripts. Person of Intetest is better than most CBS shows that are just copies of their other shows. Did they get a little lost when Henson left, yes, but she only wanted to stay for 3 years, her choice. I thought the premier had excellent ratings, since CBS did not promote it and waited almost a year to air the new episodes. This show always had a cinematic feel to it. I thought it was a lot… Read more »
1) Taraji didn’t want to leave; Nolan told her she was leaving. And he told Nina Tassler he had to have his “Catwoman”.
2) That would be “Criminal Minds,” not mines.
3) Gary Sinise
4) You’re the senior “creator” director? Don’t you mean “creative”? I’m very doubtful of that claim, given the number of other errors in your post.
Are grammatical errors even relevant here? He was in support of POI. I don’t give two about if his story about his position in some ad campaign agency.
How the heck did this get -11?!?!? What is wrong with society?!!!!!
Dude, Matthew, what’s wrong with you?? The first 1.5 seasons worked, then they started making ridiculous AI/Samaritan changes that finally broke the bank when they killed off their best female character (Carter). And no, the actress didn’t ask or want to leave when they killed her character off. Of all the characters, the producers said she (Carter) didn’t fit the AI/Samartan storyline the most, so she was its first and biggest true casualty. Oh, but there was more to come. The producers themselves have said it in various interviews. Such a shame because this really could have been a great… Read more »
It isn’t CBS fault that the show is cancelled. That’s all Nolan and Plagemans fault. They JUMPED THE SHARK BIGTIME with the Samaritan crap. The viewers left because of this boring (and pathetic) war of the machines.
Add the fact Taraji P. Henson is still dearly missed. I miss Carter and Reese. Their banter was why i tuned in.
There is nothing exciting about Person of Interest any longer.
Blame Nolan!!!
I hate how they put this show out to die. They have no respect for a show with a great story line, action scenes and the appearance of a big budget film. The actors are really good too. CBS only wants numbers. Go to hell CBS.
this show went off the rails two years ago, be thankful the cbs gave this **** a pity 13 ep renewal to close out the story. I would have dropped this dead weight show several years ago.
So what are you doing here?
I concur, PoI was much better before the Samaritan story line and lost its way after that. As a former viewer I have the right to say that.
