The ratings weren’t “out of this world” but The CW isn’t sending the aliens home just yet. The smallest network has renewed their Roswell, New Mexico TV show for a second season.
A science fiction drama, Roswell, New Mexico Jeanine Mason, Nathan Dean Parsons, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Michael Trevino, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Trevor St. John, and Karan Oberoi. Based on the Roswell High book series (which was also the basis for a 1999 TV series), this series centers on Liz Ortecho (Mason), who’s back in town after a decade away. After reconnecting with her old crush, Roswell PD Officer Max Evans (Parsons), she learns he, his sister Isobel (Cowles) and their friend, Michael (Vlamis), are aliens. Now Liz has to keep this secret from everyone she knows, including her old high school boyfriend, Dr. Kyle Valenti (Trevino), and her best friend, Maria De Luca (Hemmens). Meanwhile, the politics of hatred, fear, and division threaten to expose them all and risk everyone’s lives.
The first season of Roswell, New Mexico averaged a 0.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.06 million viewers. Season one concluded on April 23rd.
Today, the network also renewed In the Dark (season two), All American (season two), and The 100 (season seven) for the 2019-20 season. They join previously renewed series Arrow (eighth and final season), Charmed (season two), Black Lightning (season three), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season five), Dynasty (season three), The Flash (season six), Legacies (season two), Riverdale (season four), Supergirl (season five), and Supernatural (15th and final season).
“As we begin to plan for the 2019-2020 season, we’re thrilled to have this roster of 14 exceptionally creative and distinctive series, including all five first year shows, as the foundation on which to continue to build the multiplatform future of The CW,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “One of our key long-term goals has been to continually add more original programming all year round, especially in midseason and summer, and with these returning shows and the new series we’ll order as we get closer to the May upfront, next season on The CW is shaping up to be our most robust year round schedule yet.”
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that the Roswell, New Mexico TV show has been renewed? Will you be watching season two on The CW?
Loved the first season once it became available on Netflix. I am very eager to see the second season and please don’t kill off Max he is amazing.!
Thrilled, I love that show! Oh, I’m 66 years old , too.
I am also thrilled, For this show and In the Dark both are a bit refreshing from the normal teen crap. In the Dark is actually really good and its stupid weird that this network picked it up, the writing feels CW but the content doesn’t so I am surprised. Same goes for Rosewell, I think the action of the story needs to progress faster if they want a 3rd season. A lot of stuff happens in one episode for certain characters but the overall is missing something. I really enjoyed the immigration twist and the older characters those decisions… Read more »
Yes I am thrilled, please don’t kill a show that’s actually good. Come on keep on plugging away. PLEASE HAVE A HEART!!!!!
Really like the show. Looking forward to season 2.
I followed the first Roswell a 1999. I have watched all the episodes of the new Roswell New Mexico. I actually think I like this one better I can’t wait for the second season to start
I just finished watching the first season on Netflix and I am thrilled to hear about the renewal of the second season. For the first 2 episodes, I was not sure I would fall into it, but after those first two, it had me hooked.
wait its already on Netflix?! I know the CW and Netflix have a deal but I thought I would have to wait for like 2 months or something?
I just finished watching the first season on Netflix and I am thrilled to hear about the renewal!
I love this show. Can’t wait for Season 2. In spite of all the drama. It was good.
I love this show. I am not in your demographic either. I m 60. Keep this show on!!! Best show on tv.
I watched the original series and have enjoyed this new version, reuniting characters 10 years later. Show has some of the same elements as original, but different enough to make it new, exciting, and more mature. As an avid syfi reader/watcher, I am pleased it is returning. I do hope next season will answe some of the questions regarding crash, home planet, etc. it is always difficult to get invested in a new series, not knowing if show will leave you hanging.
So ok I love love Roswell New Mexico. And am really happy it is getting a second season. BTW I’m a 71 year old woman. So I’m not even in your demographic. What’s up with that? This show is so well done. I didn’t watch Roswell back in the day so I have nothing to compare it to. Michael and Alex’s story arc is so way cool. The mystery and all really impress me. I set my alarm to make sure I don’t miss it. PS I really ship Malex. See I think I’m pretty hip. What do you think?
I am so happy an exited that Roswell NM is returning I love this show and my favourite Max!!!
I fell in love with Roswell, NM…and I am SO happy to hear it will be returning! There are but a few shows I actually enjoy watching, and it always kills me to get invested in a show just to have it end without REALLY ending. I hope there are many more seasons to come, and I really hope that I don’t have to miss out on seeing the one actor who made me tune into the show in the first place…it would suck to permanently lose my favorite.
I’m suuuper excited Roswell is coming back because I work on it, now I know I’ll get a paycheck!
