Prepare for more commercial parodies and fewer actual commercials on Saturday Night Live. Today, NBC announced there will be 30% fewer commercials during the sketch series in the 2016-2017 season.
The change comes after years of increasing advertisement time.
From SNL creator Lorne Michaels:
As the decades have gone by, commercial time has grown. Saturday Night Live. This will give time back to the show and make it easier to watch the show live.”
What do you think? Do you watch Saturday Night Live? Do you think the show will benefit from fewer commercials?
With so few new shows and so many reruns in the 2016-17 season who cares about the amount of ad content? If Michaels and company can’t produce a full season of content it’s time to give the time slot over to new and more productive talent. What do you say, NBC?
Love Alec Baldwin and your cast. Please keep up your good work. Your show is telling truths via comedy. Less commercials during some of the skits would be good.
You’d put an animal down which was this injured, why inflict “SNL” on the viewing public any longer? Let it die, who knows – on the other side Belushi and Gilda Radner may still be able to to breathe some spirit (and certainly comedy) back into this senior senior, senior (enough?) show.
I’m not sure if it’s the actors or the writers but this was one of the worst seasons of the show. Not sure if less commercials will help.
Be nice it this were applied to prime time shows.
