TV show description:
From creators Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, the Star Trek: Discovery TV show is the latest series in the enduring science-fiction franchise. A prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the drama follows the crew of the USS Discovery during the Cold War between the Federation and the Klingons
Star Trek: Discovery centers on First Officer Michael Burnham (Martin-Green), who served on the USS Shenzhou before being assigned to the USS Discovery. “Number One,” as she is known, was a ward of Mr. Spock’s (Leonard Nimoy) father, the Vulcan Ambassador Sarek (Frain). Because of her upbringing, Michael has a rare point of view and is always striving to balance emotion with logic.
The first human to attend the Vulcan Learning Center, and an alumna of the Vulcan Science Academy, Michael brings a conscientious and ethical perspective to her duties. Before grasping alien cultures, she must learn to understand herself.
Michael is mentored by Captain Philippa Georgiou (Yeoh) of the U.S.S. Shenzhou. A war veteran, Captain Georgiou is no stranger to loss. Still, she sees the good in others and believes in mankind and extraterrestrials.
Although Star Trek: Discovery features a new ship, new characters, and new missions, it espouses the same ideals and optimism that have drawn in audiences for more than 50 years.
Series Finale:
Episode #65 — Life, Itself
With a powerful ancient technology up for grabs, Burnham and Moll battle each other inside a mysterious alien portal as Book, Rayner, and the crew of Discovery wage a ferocious fight to protect Burnham and the future of the Federation.
First aired: May 30, 2024.
What do you think? Do you like the Star Trek: Discovery TV series? Should this TV show be ending or renewed for a sixth season on Paramount+?
The show debuted in 2017 with more than 9 million viewers.
It currently averages a little over 1.6 million per ep.
“Call Me Kat” on Fox had better ratings before it was cancelled.
An actual fifth season? Extreeeeemely generous.
It never had 9 million viewers. CBS All Access platform only had 800K subscribers when the show went exclusive there in 2017, growing to 1.1M through the year. when the first season was released for free on CBS, it was beaten by TNG era re-runs
Yes, cancel the show – Ridiculous scripts, the show has gotten boring.
Why are people nearly unanimous that this show should be canceled? Well… The show started out absolutely deplorably, with story concepts that were grossly inconsistent with themselves, each other, canon, rational behavior, known facts, and just about everything else. I had the hallmarks of being written by people who believe that “sci-fi” means “no need to make sense”. Technology is designed purely to look futuristic and cool, with no thought to why it would look like that, or how it would actually work. No thought is given to the story effects of the grossly overpowered technologies. The “spore drive” isn’t… Read more »
Clearly CBS decided to see past all existing fans of the show in a gambit to maybe entice this new generations with bells and whistles. This show is unwatchable.
Makes no sense. Why it still exists.
Star Trek Discover should be canceled. Unbelievable, poorly written and the least of the Star Trek series to date. Paramount should move on from this embarrassment.
this show is a vandalization of gene roddenberries vision. CBS is clamouring onto the ip rights of this franchise with an icy grip of death even though they have no interest or understanding of what they have. the only reason they even looked at star trek is because they needed some sort of content to fill their streaming platform because they want to play with the big boys like netflix and disney, and this is the biggest ip they had at the time. their complete disinterest in science fiction and especially star trek shows in every aspect of this show.… Read more »
This series is ahead of its time. This is definitely a top of the line series! Out of all the Star Trek series, this is the most awesome of them all!!!! This is another one I could watch forever!!!!!!
when you say ahead of its time, do you mean so far that humanity has nuked itself back into the stone age and then circled all the way back to the dark ages? yes, thats probably where youd find this show that trek fans just shorten to STD, because its about as enjoyable. discovery is not only less progressive than the classic trek shows in terms of representation, it cant stick to classic trek canon lore (which is why they had to take it into the future to stop making mistakes), it has terrible writing with massive plot holes, it… Read more »
Ya. Well ahead. It shouldn’t have been released until after the end of humanity. It would’ve been the perfect revenge on cat-kind, which will inevitably overthrow us. As it is, we’ve cast this curse on ourselves.
Let me ask you a question: Have you really seen and enjoyed the previous Star Trek series? Really?
so ahead of its time that no one is watching it
Absolutely terrible show – expected better from Orci, but this show continues to become even more pathetic and “woke” pandering each episode – the sci-fi storytelling and universe building has degenerated into hopelessness and failed plots and even worse characters and actors – one can only hope the Pike spin-off is REAL sci-fi
