Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

I personally don’t know anyone who still pays for cable anymore so Netflix needs to pick this up and continue it. It was such an amazing show I NEED to know what happens to everyone 🙁

What a great show! Found it on Netflix. Interesting premise and characters. I can not believe it got cancelled. Maybe not the right marketing, I do not remember this show being advertised.
AMAZING show!! I would love to see it continued. Sadly after 5 years and one of the main cast members dying, it feels impossible, but the least they could do is write a comic or something to tie up the ending!! there was no closure!!!
Teriffic show . Not enough credit due . Just wrong time slot wasn’t view at right time to pick up. Sad loss it’s gone, it could’ve really made a great impact.
Heres an idea! Why don’t fox sell the rights to Netflix and Netflix continue the series! That would be awesome!

I never even knew this aired until I found it on Netflix. I loved this series and would watch more if I could. I think its all the satellite and cable along with Netflix that takes the watchers away form regular tv. I don’t watch much myself but if I find a good series I’ll bing watch until im done. So disappointed its cancelled.
Ditto. Have 3 more episodes to watch and then will go into a depressive state! I have loved every episode. Off -beat is what I want.
Just finished season 1 on netflix. Loved it. The reason it didn’t make it. I never heard of it, I just stumbled across it one day on netflix. What a great freaking show that was. It had a certain air about it and it was fun to watch. It had a great cast. Well, looks like the network fucked up again, lol
What I have read here sums up how I feel about Networks. First, they suck you in, then they change the night and time so you cannot find it, then some snot nosed thumb sucker make the brilliant move to end it in favor if a horrible reality show. The networks and their thumb suckers do not have a clue what audiences like or want.
Oh my god, that is so true. They have a knack for canceling great shows and replacing them with cheap reality drivel. It’s infuriating!
The Finder was one of the best shows. Fell in love with the characters when they showed up on “Bones”. Caught up with it on Netflix. IT SHOULD BE RENEWED!
This show would have done better if it had been given better advertising. The plots are twisty, the dialogue witty, and the characters are just lovable enough to draw a following. But people need to watch the show to realize what a gem it is. You drew us in and dropped the ball. Boo!
I just found ‘The Finder’ on Netflix several days ago. I was so happy to have found it after wondering for some years what happened to it! There it was one! Then puff, it was gone. I thought it was bumped for a week or two for some kind of special or something or other. But, no. It was gone. I missed it, because I considered it to be clever, numerous, entertaining, different…and very Florida. When I started watching the Finder I wasn’t very interested in it. I think it had a rough first couple of episodes, and if it wasn’t out of pure boredom I would not have kept watching it. The last half of the season I thought progressively got better and closer to what the original intention was of the show. It is unfortunately that they had a rough start because I thought that the direction the show was headed was very good. My wife and I LOVED this short-lived series. We we were saddened to discover it was canceled. We live in South Florida and found it to be incredibly entertaining. Netflix, please pick it up !
I just recently found The Finder while flipping through Netflix, so they must have heard your call. Very saddened to find out that there was only one season made. I honestly had never even heard of the show before finding it on Netflix and loved the crossovers from Bones
