The chances of a sixth season renewal have disappeared for The Magicians. Syfy has revealed that the current fifth season will also be the show’s last.
The Magicians stars Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy, Jade Tailor, Brittany Curran, and Trevor Einhorn. The series follows a group of friends as they discover their magical abilities and ward off evil creatures who threaten to destroy the magical world they’ve come to know. In season four, magic was saved with Quentin Coldwater giving his life to save his friends and the world. In year five, there’s too much magic and, as the excess builds, an apocalypse looms.
The fifth season of The Magicians averages a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 341,000 viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 44% in the demo and down by 37% in viewership.
Eight episodes of the current season’s 13 installments have aired thus far. The de facto series finale is expected to run on Wednesday, April 1st. While the season’s finale was not planned to end the show, word is that it was written so that it could also serve as The Magicians’ last episode.
“The Magicians has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons,” Syfy said in a statement to Deadline. “As we near the end of this journey, we want to thank John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lev Grossman, and our entire brilliant cast, crew, writers, and directors for their beautiful creation. But most of all, we thank the fans for their tremendous support and passion. Because of you, magic will be in our hearts forever.”

NOOOOOOO!!! PLEASE say it isnt so!! DO NOT CANCEL THE MAGICIANS!!! It is truly the ONLY show I really care about tuning in for anymore…I will just stop watching tv at all if I dont have this to look forward to!!! Please bring my MAGICIANS BACK!!!
It breaks my heart there won’t be any more episodes….this show gave my wife and I a show to watch together each week!!

C’mon, Syfy, give us season 6…the show gets better & better!
Glad it’s cancelled. Loved the series but the language had gotten distractingly filthy this season. Just because cable allows you to say the words without a beep doesn’t make the show better if you use them. Are the writers 7th graders? Advice for your next job, get a thesaurus and learn some new words you might actually elevate the show and give the audience something new to speak other than gutter language.
Wow…. I really love this show and make a point to stay up and watch it. So disappointing that this is the end. The only show I watch on SyFy.
NOOOOOO!!! The Magicians was one of favorite shows. What else does SYFY even have that comes close to how great this show is?
So heartbroken. Eliot and Margo this year have been a delight! So many stories out there to tell, this world has blown me away in its creativity!
Oh no , this is a ground breaking series! Season 3 was so good it should have been awarded an Emmy. My advice? Like SyFi on twitter and start posting them to save the series. When you start a movement, you can change their minds!

The destroyed the show last year when they killed off the lead character from the books. Without him the show lost its heart and a body cant live without a heart. That goes for shows too.

I agree they should have never gotten rid of q. I love this show it’s nice to have a show that has this type of magic it’s different compared to the other shows or what shows we don’t have anymore it seems like we’re losing all the good ones that we shouldn’t be. This one has character and adventure and personality and it opens up a lot in people’s minds and what type of life these people are having all these different twisted scenarios and I strongly disagree with their cancellation I believe they should give the magician’s another chance… Read more »
