This ABC drama has been a middle-of-the-road performer in the ratings but has managed to secure a renewal each year. A police drama series, The Rookie TV show stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, and Mekia Cox. As the story begins, John Nolan (Fillion) is a middle-aged divorced man from Pennsylvania. He owns a construction company but decides to give up his old life to pursue a new career as a police officer in the Los Angeles Police Department. He graduates from the Police Academy and becomes the oldest rookie on the force. He works with Sergeant Wade Grey (Jones), Detective Angela Lopez (Diaz), training officers Nyla Harper (Cox) and Tim Bradford (Winter), and fellow rookie Lucy Chen (O’Neil).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: Season three of The Rookie on ABC averaged a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.73 million viewers.

Entertaining show. Has good action and some light comedy. Renew the show.
Renew. Streaming platforms will always justify any show despite the ‘ratings’, which are not a reliable source of justification for any show. I NOW love Supernatural, but was invested in another show that aired at the same time. Syndication and streaming offer most any show the redemption they deserve.
Also, “The Rookie” is very popular in Europe. Nathan Fillion has a huge European fanbase.
I used to love this show, but season 3 was so cringe for me I just could not watch it any more, politics made it unwatchable, I tried to tune on the 1st episode on season 4 but 10 minutes in it still was a former shell and still too cringe to watch so I made a final choice to drop it permanently. And by the ratings it seems a lot of people are in the same boat as me.
You are definitely not alone in your boat! I made the choice to permanently drop it in season 3 after giving it multiple chances throughout the season. Even episodes that didn’t beat you over the head with politics were still shells of episodes from previous seasons. Cases were more boring and underdeveloped, predominantly. I have watched the rookie since the first episode. It’s a great show and my policeman daughter said it’s very realistic. How can we let a wonderful show like this be canceled?? Maybe Netflix will pick it up or Amazon because they seem to appreciate shows that ABC doesn’t.

I love the rookie. They need to take these shows that suck and cancel them. The rookie is a good show they need to keep it going. 100% Renew
My kids and I love the show. Unfortunately, Tegna will not allow cable provider any airing of ABC for last 5 months. We are resorted to watch The Rookie a week after original airing. Monday 10-4 we finally got to see season 4 premiere. Take in consideration of issues like this on any decision to cancel.
The same-day numbers for the premiere weren’t great, but The Rookie more than doubled its viewers in delayed viewing in just three days. It’s a new world — half of TV viewers don’t watch things live. Yes, the biggest advertising dollars come from same-day viewing, but that’s not all the networks look at. I’m told by someone who would know that ABC doesn’t even announce next-day ratings for their shows anymore, they only send out Live+3 numbers.
We love the Rookie. Give it time. You remove any show that that people over 30 like. The season just started and with the pandemic it is a good show.

this show definitely should be renewed. it is one of the most consistent shows on television in quality. it will most likely be renewed. if you look at second 3 it had a not so good start and this is that just a tad lower. it will pick-up and you bet your butt it will get renewed
Not good numbers .30 18-49, total viwers 2.802 million for season opener.Last year ABC lowered the bar by renewing it at .48.
