Are you a big fan of Timeless? Recently, co-creator Shawn Ryan spoke with Deadline about a possible future for the cancelled NBC TV show.
The time-travel drama just aired its two-hour series finale on NBC on December 20th. The series, which was cancelled after two seasons this year, stars Matt Lanter, Abigail Spencer, and Malcolm Barrett.
In the interview, Timeless co-creator Shawn Ryan discussed what it was like filming the NBC series finale:
It was always a very difficult show to make, and this two-hour event was similar, but there was a lot of joy that went into making it. This was the most pleasant shooting experience that the cast and crew had at any point along the journey. So it was a really good experience for everyone, and so, as a result, it was kind of hard to end and to leave.”
And what about the future? Will Timeless ever return to the small screen? Ryan says he hopes it does:
I feel like the show has ended prematurely. I felt, especially in the second season, we really got into our groove creatively, and to NBC’s credit, they never had any issues with the creative. Listen, if I could choose my own path, it’d be great to be able to revisit the show every two or three years with a movie or a little four to six-episode arc. I would definitely be all in for that. We know the realities when you don’t have the actors under contract. All the actors love doing this, and if we were able to figure out the scheduling for this and maybe we’d be able to do it.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Timeless? Were you satisfied with the series finale?
As Ryan mused, a 4-6 episodic arc every other year would do well on streaming TV (Peacock, the NBC entity?).
Move TIMELESS to Netflix – or move the finale to Netflix. Excellent show, loaded with unknown bits of history. Would appreciate Season 3 as the finale, which would allow the viewer a slow and manageable conclusion to the show.
Really MISSING this show! I loved the writing for the story lines with an amazing cast of actors. The entire cast was so believable in every transition of the various historical time periods. Timeless was truly more than a tv show, my family got hooked fast and I honestly can say it was more than just watching mindless tv. Even teenage kids were inspired to learn more about historical events from the episodes 🙂 For the first time, in a long time, It was nice to see a television show with a creative, educational backbone. Timeless inspired thought, learning and… Read more »
I loved this show. One of the most creative ones in years. I don’t watch much network tv anymore. Tired of hospital and crime shows. And absolutely disgusted with “reality” fake tv. This show have plot development, character development, and so many story options.
I am so upset to see this show cancelled. I looked forward to it each week. Please bring it back. I learned a lot of Historical facts watching this show.
What a horrible thing to do canceling a show that so many really likes. Come on NBC!!!!
Such a horrible thing to do Canceling hey so that so many people enjoy. Come on NBC
Awesome show. What are you taking about? I’m going to miss it. Maybe Netflix can pick it up.
This show is horrible. The acting sucks, the history is wrong, and the violence is over the top. Should have been canceled after the 1st season or better yet after the pilot.
We could not have watched the same show. My entire family would sit and watch this show.
The actors that play Flynn and Rufus are possibly the best I’ve seen, who cares if the history is wrong if it’s entertaining, and there is little violence compared to how well they built up these characters. I have personally NEVER been more into a show, it just made me so happy to watch.
