Moonlight: Fans Mount Campaigns to Save the CBS Vampire Detective Series

IMAGEIn February, CBS gave early renewals for eleven of the network’s popular series. One cult favorite missing from the list was the freshman romantic series Moonlight. The series had been performing decently on Friday nights but, because of the writers strike, there haven’t been any new episodes in months. The network is producing four new episodes for this season and will begin airing April 25th. Before giving the go-ahead for season two, CBS likely wants to see if anyone remembers the series.

Fans of the vampire series aren’t waiting to see if the cancellation axe falls before starting campaigns to save it. “Operation: Renew Moonlight” kicked off yesterday and the folks from three fan sites aren’t April Fooling around. They’ve united to encourage fans to fill out a campaign form and send it along with a clove of garlic to Nina Tassler, the president of CBS. Check out Moonlight-United.com for more information.

In another effort, fans wanting to draw attention to the series are teaming up with the Red Cross and YouChoose.net for a weeklong blood drive. The campaign plans have impressed series star Alex O’Loughlin enough to become a spokesman for the Red Cross.

The “Blood Drive to Save Moonlight Campaign” will be held from April 18th through April 27th (corresponding with the start of new episodes) in cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. There are over 4,000 pledges to date and fans are being invited to donate their time, blood or cash to support the effort and the Red Cross. Blood drive participants will be given a special t-shirt as a thank-you. For more information, head on over to MoonlightBloodDrive.org.

CBS announces their 2008-09 schedule in May so we should know if the fans’ hard work has paid off by then. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

More people need to know about the show it is AWESOME!!!! I dont understand why people dont know about it!!! I think I’m a little late watching it though. Maybe too late to save it. MOONLIGHT is the best show that has happened to TV in many years. There are only a few good shows on tv today and Moonlight is at the top of the list. You need to think that Mick and Beth had the chemistry that viewers love it…CBS should BRING it back the moonlight another sesson because we viewers keep on imaging what happened to thier realtionship if Mick will turn Beth to his wolrd or he will continue looking the way how to be a human or he will just stay vampire to protect Beth and those people asking his help….It’s a nice good story, nice actor and actress i wish CBS read all the comments to this shows and figure it out to return it to air or some channel pick this shows as one of the great TV series… WE VIEWERS REALLY LOVE THIS “MOONLIGHT”

Please -Please-Please bring the Moonlight series back again!!! This is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched – the vampire theme always extremely popular – even more so now with the outstanding success of the ‘Twilight’ book series and most recently the Movie/s based on these books.
There continues to be an amazing fan base for ‘Moonlight’ – just on myspace alone there are countless Moonlight tribute and fan pages – and what we all want is to see this series brought back again and given a fair chance to prove itself to be a success.-Until then – we fans will have to try and make do with watcihng thie on’ine episodes and the numerous you tube videos for the show. Again I say please bring back this awesome series.

Please bring this show back, it was not given a fair chance. I cannot believe the good shows that get canceled. There are actually people who want to watch something other than game shows and reality TV.

Please continue this great Series. It has it all with Romance, mystery, criminals etc. Why do they always cancel the great shows and keep some of the trashy rubbish going on and on and on.

I’m from portugal. When i wake up i turn on my tv just to see moonlight, but i’m tired to see the same episodes. i wanna see more. i know that the big companies don’t care about mt opinion, but they may have some problems in the future if they don’t stop disapointing the fans. We NEED moonlight. so many people loves the show…and so many people is mad because they would like to see if beth became a vampire, or if mick became human, or simply and sadly they won’t end together…is not human don’t make a secon season…

Please bring back the tv show moonlight . It wasn’t given a fair chance. The way the show ended left us hanging with wanting more now that Mick and Beth have found each other. The chemistry between those two is amazing. This show even got an award for new drama in 2008. I believe the show would be even stronger, now that other vampire movies have come out . You would need to bring back Alex O’Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring and all the others. They made the show . Please , please bring it back. I miss it so.

Another great series not given a fair chance, we all need the magic in our lives that programmes like this bring. I am one of the ‘old’ people (38yrs mum of 3) who watch these shows and I love Twilight too. Is there some law saying that you loose your imagination and love of supernatural at 25? Please give us a season 2, 3, 4 ……..
