Looks like the spies will live to double cross each other for another day. FX has ordered a second season of the Archer animated series.
Archer revolves around suave master spy Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) and the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where global crises serve as opportunities for the highly-trained employees to undermine one other. The series also features the voices of Jessica Walter, Aisha Tyler, George Coe, Chris Parnell, and Judy Greer.
The series got off to a strong start when it began its regular run in January. Approximately 1.8 million viewers watched the premiere with a .9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Unfortunately, the ratings began to slide after that and the first seven episodes have averaged 1.2 million viewers.

That’s apparently good enough for FX though since the cable channel has just ordered a second season of 13 installments.
Of the renewal, Nick Grad, FX’s Executive VP of Original Programming, said, “Executive Producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson are delivering a hilarious series and it truly earned a second season. H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell and Judy Greer comprise one of the best voice casts of any animated series on TV. We’re very happy with the audience response and critical acclaim for Archer and are excited to move forward with it.”
The current 10 episode season of Archer will wrap up on March 18th. Season two episodes are expected to begin airing in 2011.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Archer will be back for another round of episodes?

I don’t even have any shows that i HAVE to watch on tv, i mostly dont keep track of what’s going on in this or that show, but i think Archer is the funniest thing i’ve ever seen. You can’t watch an episode and not laugh. Seriously… it’s that funny!
Heck yeah! Archer is one of the funniest shows on TV, well as long as you’re not easily offended. I kind of hate it’s time slot though. Not that it’s actually a bad slot, just bad for me. Luckily for me though DISH Network has the DISH online website (you can find it here: http://bit.ly/dJzWgo) where they stream a ton of content—much of it available to customers and non customers alike. So with all the latest episodes of Archer there, it’s easy to catch up if I miss one or two. One more reason I’m glad to be a subscriber… Read more »
