An NBC legal drama, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.

*6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.
Bluff CityLaw is the kind of thought provoking drama that should replace so much of the violent and mind numbing programming currently on TV. Please rethink your decision NBC!
I love this show! The writing is great, the topics are relevant. The cast is flawless. I want more of this show!
My wife and I were great;y disappointed in the cancellation of the program Bluff City Law by NBC. We enjoyed the program far more than some of the other newer programs We urge NBC to reconsider the cancellation of this program.

Please bring Bluff city law back, I just love this show and all the cast. This is awesome show.
Great show. Family oriented yet has a twinge if Erin Brockovich to it. I would love to see it come back.
I thought every episode was great! I hope they come back to Memphis to film another season.
Please bring this show back for another season! It is so refreshing to have something that focusing on the solution rather than being bogged down in the problem. It’s uplifting and positive and has a story to tell. We want more!
Best show on the air. Renew please!
The season finale of Bluff City Law was wonderful! Although I am disappointed that George won’t be back—his suicide was a complete surprise, I did not see that coming. I loved that Jake actually assumed responsibility for helping George transition back into society. One of my favorite things, is how Sydney and Elijah have similar mannerisms; drinking the same drink, and holding their glass the same way. All of the actors are a treat to watch. Monday nights are pretty boring now that the season’s ended. I heard the ratings aren’t as high as they need to be, but I… Read more »
I was drawn to watch because of the subject matter in the Pilot and that’s why I began watching Bluff City Law. My husband died with NHL. He used a chemical herbicide on our farm for a number of years. It was reportedly a safe product. He never knew it was a risk to use long term. This story let me know BCL was on top of today’s news in support of the people whose voices are seldom heard. After watching that show I knew BCL was the best series to come along in a desert of everyday shows that… Read more »
I’m so sorry you lost your husband to this horrible killer. My dad and grandfather both died from use of industrial pesticides but way too long ago for it to have been a know cause. I loved the topics covered in this show and hope for a return season two, three, and beyond!
Please bring Bluff City Law back for Season 2
