Last season, CBS introduced only eight new shows during the regular season. They cancelled three and renewed five of them. How will their new programming do in the ratings this time around? Stay tuned.
CBS shows this season (so far): 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, American Gothic, Angel From Hell, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Blue Bloods, BrainDead, Code Black, Criminal Minds, CSI: Cyber, Elementary, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, Life In Pieces, Limitless, Madam Secretary, Mike & Molly, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, The Odd Couple, Person of Interest, Rush Hour, Scorpion, Supergirl, Survivor, Two Broke Girls, Undercover Boss, and Zoo.
There’s lots of data that CBS execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing so far.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
Where is Castle on this list, I just love love love the show.
Castle was cancelled.
They cancelled Castle at the end of last season. I loved that show and now watch all the re-runs. I hope they put it on Net-Flix.
Love NCIS, HAWAII five o, Code Black is a new fav, Blue Bloods..
Elementary probably won’t go under a 1.0, but it is headed that way. I know CBS renewed it for syndication purposes, but a 1.02 is awful.
Love Code Black. please renew.
Please keep Code Black! Love it!
Please keep Hawaii Five 0 and all 3 NCIS shows going!
please keep NCIS: Los Angels love this show!!!!
You should try living the UK, we have not yet had series 2 showing and there is not date when it will be broadcast. Enjoyed the first series but expect it to be canned as we liked it and we appear to manage to put the kiss of death on any programme that is easy going and not offensive.
CSI:Cyber has potential , but it’s missing a bit of zest..or excitement.
My opinion & probably others, is that it just needs a little re-vamp.
Though cyber crime is a growing issue, it needs some Hollywood magic to make it great. I know having ones identity stolen isn’t exciting (experience talking!!!!) they make it.
Being different than most most crime shows gives it an advantage.
CBS: don’t axe it without giving it more of an edge first. PLEASE.
I agree the suspense is killing me
I like both the big bang theory and ncis, but I really love Supergirl and I’m dying to know if it is going to be renewed for a second season. I mean she did win the People’s choice award for best new drama and her show has improved with each new episode and she is a positive role model for young children.
ABC and NBC have announced most of their renewals. When is CBS going to get on the ball and announce their renewals? So far NCIS is the only new renewal.
I love Code Black. The cast is what makes it so good. They work so well off each other. I look forward to watching it each week and I don’t watch very much TV
I LOVE Code Black. Best new show on prime time. It’s the one show I really look forward to watching every week. A wonderful cast and great storylines. PLEASE RENEW
