The new trio of witches won’t get another season to work together. The CW has cancelled the Charmed TV show so we won’t see a fifth season. The final episode will air on June 10th.
A supernatural drama series, the Charmed TV show stars Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, Lucy Barrett, Rupert Evans, and Jordan Donica. A reboot of the 1998 series, the show begins as three sisters discover they are witches in the wake of their mother’s murder. Soon, this powerful threesome must stand together to harness “The Power of Three” and protect humanity from the demons that prowl the earth. In season four, sisters Mel (Diaz) and Maggie (Jeffery) find their lives transformed by the death of their beloved sister, Macy (Madeleine Mantock). But when their grief threatens to undo the Power of Three forever, the surprising arrival of a third Charmed One (Barrett) gives them a renewed opportunity to fulfill their destinies. Meanwhile, a mysterious new enemy is rising in the shadows, instilling fear in every corner of the magical world.
Airing on Friday nights, the fourth season of Charmed averages a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 357,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season three, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 6% in viewership. In the live+7 day ratings, which includes a week of delayed viewing, the season currently averages a 0.10 demo and 650,000 viewers.
The CW is currently owned by CBS Entertainment Group (part of Paramount Global) and Warner Bros. Entertainment (part of Warner Bros. Discovery). Most of The CW’s programming comes from these two companies and network ratings are only a part of how they profit from the shows. In the past, The CW has been renewing most of its shows each year but, the network is currently up for sale. Because a sale will change how The CW operates, the network has significantly pared down its renewals this time around and has opted to cancel several series that likely would have been renewed otherwise.
Today, The CW also dropped 4400, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies, Naomi, and Roswell, New Mexico. The network previously cancelled Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
What do you think? Have you enjoyed watching the Charmed TV series on The CW? Are you sad to hear that the reboot series has been cancelled and won’t have a fifth season?
Screw the buy out and screw them for canceling so many awesome shows! I felt like charmed was getting so good from where it started! And Roswell New Mexico was an amazing show as well and I’m heartbroken it’s over.
I actually enjoyed the reboot and the finale left me hanging When season 4 came out it did not advertise that it was the last season i know most people stuck by the original i do too but the reboot was a dam good show it had me hooked so im very disappointed it got cancelled im actually mad because it left a lot of loose ends
I feel like everytime I really start to like a show( I was apprehensive at first because its a reboot but I really like the cast) it gets canceled. I would have loved the chance of even seeing the original cast in the show. I really hope another network picks this up because it really is a good supernatural show. I don’t like most of the ones on today. In the world of DVR, ratings will definitely look lower because people record stuff and watch it back later. I know sometimes I can’t watch for 3 weeks and then I… Read more »
I’m very disappointed they are canceling all my favorites I love charmed and Roswell New Mexico and legacies I don’t have cable or satellite to watch so I have to wait till they come on Netflix but I watch every season. I hope they change their minds and pick them back up even if it’s just for Netflix or another streaming app. I know many other ppl who watch them on Netflix as well they shouldn’t drop these shows
I am very disappointed that you have canceled charmed and roswell new mexico and legacies all three are my absolute favorites. Roswell New Mexico being my number 1 fave show to watch ever. Why did you end them? Please cant someone else pick it or all of them up?
The reboot never ever held a candle to the original Charmed TV series. The original Charmed TV series had 7.7 million viewers for the premiere episode and had 4.9 million viewers for the finale episode. The reboot of Charmed never even came close to that. This is the major reason it was cancelled having only 393.000 thousand viewers for a TV series finale does not make it a success. It was a failure. Plain and simple. Tried watching a few of the episodes of the reboot. Out of curiosity I watched the finale of the reboot. And the only good… Read more »
It wasn’t my favourite show and still prefer original, but grew on me as it gained it’s footing. I’m mostly just annoyed that it, like Legends of Tomorrow, left on such a cliffhanger. Going into the finale knowing it was cancelled, I expected a cameo once they said they were going to this other realm… so for them to end with no one answering door and just them walking into house was such an F U.
Stop canceling a good thing all the good shows get canceled and all that stupid ones keep going keep the charm ones in the dark Roswell New Mexico and so on come on we’re in a pandemic we need our entertainment why do you keep canceling the good ones
