The story of a certain family is coming to an end. The Children Ruin Everything TV show is ending with the current fourth season. The series originates in Canada on CTV and episodes air in the United States on The CW.
A parenting comedy series, the Children Ruin Everything TV show stars Meaghan Rath, Aaron Abrams, Ennis Esmer, Nazneen Contractor, Logan Nicholson, Mikayla SwamiNathan, Dmitry Chepovetsky, Veena Sood, Lisa Codrington, and Darius Rota. The story follows a young couple, Astrid (Rath) and James (Abrams), as they raise their two young children, Felix (Nicholson) and Viv (SwamiNathan). The parents struggle to hold onto some semblance of their pre-kid life while doing their best to be good parents in a city setting. Illustrating the hilarious and varied ways kids can wreck happiness (alter plans, annihilate goals and dreams, and force parents to re-invent their lives), the series also explores how maybe that re-invented life is somewhat okay, too.
Airing on Friday nights in the United States, the fourth season of Children Ruin Everything is averaging a 0.034 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 220,000 viewers (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season three, that’s down by 16% in the demo and down by 7% in viewership.
CTV announced that Children Ruin Everything will end after four seasons and 50 episodes. Scott Thompson (The Kids in the Hall) guest stars in the series finale.
“I’m incredibly proud of this show and all the talented people who shaped it,” said Kurt Smeaton, creator and executive producer of the comedy. “It’s hard to say goodbye, but we’ve made a series finale that our audience will love.”
“Children Ruin Everything has been a genuine joy, bringing countless laughs and relatable moments to viewers,” said Justin Stockman, Vice-President, Content Development & Programming, Bell Media. “Kurt and his team have crafted the perfect ending, and we want to thank the talented cast and crew, as well as our partners at New Metric Media, for their incredible work and dedication which created something truly special. We are extremely proud to have been part of the journey.”
Eight episodes of the fourth season have aired on The CW. The remaining eight installments will begin airing later this season. A return date has yet to be announced.
What do you think? Have you enjoyed the Children Ruin Everything TV series on The CW or CTV? Are you disappointed this family won’t return for a fifth season or is now the right time to end it?
I’m sad to see Children Ruin Everything on its last season, this show is hilarious and the cast are amazing, such great energy! Plus its a great Canadian show!!! I hope this it gets resurrected, fingers crossed.
NOOOOO!! We LOVE this show!! Bring it back!!!
Once again CTV aka Bell Media find a way to ruin a truly great original Canadian show. It will surely be replaced by a US show with Us actors. RIP
Sad to see this show is canceled. I loved it. I don’t even have kids. The actors were so believable. Loved them all. I will miss it.
What a great Canadian family comedy. It is hilarious and we are deeply saddened that it is ending. Why we never knew about this gem until just recently, I don’t know. But they need to seriously reconsider it’s future. KEEP IT GOING PLEASE!!! Thanks for the many laughs. And tears.
This was a great show, I don’t even had children and loved it. This is a mistake and not marketed properly.
Loved the originality and cast of this show
So sad to see it go
This show is absolutely wonderful! Thank you to ALL involved in its making. To CTV executives: Please reconsider this move. Some of your viewership LIKES a show that keeps us engaged mentally.
What an awesome show! It’s a real pity that we won’t get to see the amazing cast retuning for a season 5.. I’m so disappointed.. hope that Bell Media reconsiders and reverses their decision..
Thank you!
Absolutely LOVE this show and I’m so sad it’s ending. This is a family I could totally relate to. I can’t wait to see what all these actors do next.
I’m disappointed that the show is ending and think a season 5 would have been great!
Absolutely heartbroken that this show is ending. This was an excellent representation of what REAL parents face in the challenges of raising kids. Even their house was an accurate depiction of what a REAL house with kids looks like…toys and clutter! This was one of the biggest highlights of my week to watch and a favourite show. Also, being from Ontario myself, I truly appreciated that it was set in Toronto and had so many familiar places and references to the GTA. It’s ashame that so many amazing shows like this get canceled, but there is an unlimited amount of… Read more »
LOVE LOVE this show. The cast is perfect, they’re all amazing.
It’s too bad its ending, but they knew that a 4-season run was the best length of time to carry this story, and now onwards to other things!
oh I’m sorry to lose this show – as a west-coaster (but a Canadian!) I’ve loved following this dear dysfunctional (normal) family!
I have really enjoyed this show, I live in the GTA and it is also nice to have a Toronto show. Meaghan is an amazing actor. I will miss this show
