We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

Love CSI I watch them all. I liked CSI New York better on Wednesday but I watch when ever it is on.
Please renew it. If you must cancel one, cancel Miami.
I have always loved the original CSI but as Tiffany said, that since Grissom left and now Katherine it’s not the same. I started watching CSI NY about 2 years ago. Gary Sinise rocks. Please do not cancel. Take CSI Miami first. I would love to see what Ted Danson and Elizabeth Shue can do. I love Nick and Greg so hopefully they will blend together.
New York is the best one. My wife and I never miss it. DON’T CANCEL IT PLEASE!!!!!!
No, please give CSI New York another year; I love all the CSI’s
Don’t cancel! CSI NY is one of our favorite crime dramas. Quality choices are becoming
less and less, while some of the inane ”reality” shows seem to flourish. What is this saying not only about audiences, but also about the network executives who choose what is to go and what is to stay?
Of all the CSI programs, CSI New York is the best. If any program is eliminated, it should be CSI Miami. The scripts have been incredibly bad and and nonsensical. My sense is that CBS is targeting CSI: NY because Gary Senise is a patriot and strongly supports the military and is not afraid to voice it. His views are at odds with the views of CBS management.
CSI New York like most good shows are disappearing quickly for sorry shows like undercover boss and survivor, they must be cheaper to make.
Keep it! It has gotten even better with Sela Ward.
GET RID OF MIAMI. GARY SENISE IS WAY BETTER THAN HORATIO ANYWAYS!!
Renew it!
Hands down NY is the best of the CSI’s, Vegas is old and Miami is well – long in the tooth!
If CBS keeps messing with it’s progamming it will just keep losing viewers as it is last minute switches, etc. drives me nuts and I’m sure I’m not alone. Local affiliate shows one thing in the schedule and the mother hen does a switch. Should have CSI NY and Blue Bloods in a better day and time slot.
I love all the CSI’S and will hate to see any of them go. Eash one, though dealing with the same subject matter, is quite different based on the characters. I especially love the addition of Ted Danson. He adds that element of humor & compasion that was lacking with Fishburn. He is as good in the role as Peterson & I was very fond of him. I would hate to see it leave just when it was getting great again. CSI Miami is very good also.
Love the show, in fact my wife and I watch all 3. they pretty much all the TV we watch. Hope fully they will move to a better night. I think Sela Ward was a good addition. Would love to see her and Mac hook up.
American Idol is a train wreck since Simon and Paula left and that is still on!!!
