Last month, Syfy finished airing the first (and very short) season of Dominion. How did the sci-fi series do in the ratings? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
Based on characters from the Legion movie, Dominion takes place 25 years into the future. It’s after the “Extinction War” in which an army of lower angels waged a war against mankind. The show’s cast includes Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom, Carl Beukes, Alan Dale, Roxanne McKee, Anthony Head, Luke Allen-Gale, Shivani Ghai, and Rosalind Halstead.
In June, the series debuted to 1.96 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Compared to other current Syfy scripted series, that was a positive premiere. Viewership dropped 26% in week two but then grew slightly in week three and leveled off.
The first season ended up averaging 1.6 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating. That’s on par with other Syfy shows like Defiance (which was way down) and Haven. The numbers are much better than those of imported shows like Continuum and Lost Girl.
While Dominion hasn’t been a runaway hit, it has been a consistent performer for the cable channel. On the other hand, Syfy has other shows in the works so they may decide to focus on launching those. It could go either way.
Syfy’s Ted A’Zary has indicated that a decision should be coming soon.
If Dominion is renewed, showrunner Vaun Wilmott said in a press call in June that he already has story plans for at least five more seasons. If it’s cancelled, hopefully he’ll share what might have been.

I was really getting into it, it is a really good program everybody in the cast is really good actors and actress they all played in the part of the role, is really good once again please do not cancel! You can always find a way to make the program really good……. something about this series is really good!. PLEASE renew Dominion. If you take this off, I’ll have noting left to watch. I’m not a ‘follower’ of any organised religion. I was brought up Christian but as I grew older I lost interest. Now I’m leaning towards Paganism but I don’t believe in trying to thrust my belief down anyone’s throat. I subscribe to James Herbert’s doctrine; ‘Magic’ or religion or whatever you want to call it, is believing what you want to believe, and enjoying the believing.

This series is so awesome i watched all seasons so far out in 2 days. It has reached South Africa with a storm i tell you please please please 😀 Make sure there is a season 3 4 and 5 etc. I am one of many supporters in S.a

First I am a Christian and any show that has god leaving his children. I don’t know if you have god die or something else but for a show to dishonor god and have his Angeles fighting each other honesty I never watched the entire show but what I watched was disgusting you people in the entertainment business are what is wrong with this world please get that show and others like it off the air

Listen, Dominion is jut a fantasy and sometimes people like to just leave all their problems from the real word behind and enjoy something that in the long run turns out to have a happy ending. If people like Carl have a problem with that , then just tell him to change the channel to some other station that has the reality shows with killing, stealing, murdering, or some other horrors from the real world. Come on Carl… Get a clue, it’s harmless television entertainment. They aren’t trying to convert you to a different religious belief. If you really do have a strong belief in your view of your form of your religion then you have nothing to fear… so don’t judge others unless you want to be judged yourself… consider this Carl… seriously.
I’m a christian and I ADORE Dominion, just as I do Legion. I love the premise and find it incredibly interesting. The best line, which I think sums it all up, is the film Legion. Percy, the short order cook, says to Michael (after hearing what’s coming) “I don’t know what book you’ve been reading but in my version the angels are good guys.” Michael responds dryly “well the truth, I’m afraid, is never that simple.” That had me wondering if we’ve simplified things too well. Those NOT of a religious leaning – just ignore this post. This is a message from a more open and fun loving religious believer to other, much stricter and judgmental, religious believers; telling them to, basically, lighten up. 🙂 As a christian myself I would advise many here that are foaming at the mouth at the IMAGINED ‘insult’ of a show, that this is the *21st C*. dominion should definitely be renewed, its great show. looking forward to seasons 2,3,4,5 beyond.
Likewise and I speak as a Christian who finds the entire premise (both for Dominion and its predecessor Legion) very interesting.
