It looks like Florida Girls is headed for early retirement. The Pop TV comedy series was renewed for a second season back in October but now, the cable channel has cancelled its plans to bring the series back.
Florida Girls comes from creator Laura Chinn, who also stars with Melanie Field, Laci Mosley, and Patty Guggenheim. It centers on four women who get slapped in the face by their lackluster lives when their one driven friend leaves town in pursuit of her dreams. Shelby (Chinn), Kaitlin (Field), Jayla (Mosley), and Erica (Guggenheim) make quite the motley crew. Still, they stick together as they try to handle whatever life throws at them, while they eke out their existence.
The first season of Florida Girls averaged a 0.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 69,000 viewers.
Variety reports that Pop has decided to pair down its original programming and informed studios that it wouldn’t be moving ahead with new seasons of Flack, Best Intentions, and Florida Girls. Production on two of the shows was expected to begin soon and season two of Flack had already been completed and scheduled. The respective studios will be free to shop the cancelled programs elsewhere.
“Our content strategy isn’t about spending more,” ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish said during a ViacomCBS earnings call. “It’s about better aligning the combined company spending with growth potential and maximizing the value of our content, IP and franchises across our now larger asset base.”

Wow!!! Sorry to hear Florida Girls has been can. I loved that show. I was waiting for season 2. It was one of the most real shows on tv…not to mention funny as hell!!! Maybe some other network will pick it up, hopefully.
I truly enjoyed watching Florida Girls. It was a hilarious satire. Why would POP drop this show. I love the authenticity, the actors and the escape from the same ole same ole shows. I have friends and family seeking its return. Please bring it back.

Stumbled upon this last night binged it. I think the network is to blame for advertisement & aiming towards the wrong audience. I never even heard about it , Not a show just for a girls to tune in to. it was hilarious every episode, each character Is funny as hell in their own way and honestly too big for the network Netflix should pick this up and give them three more seasons, easy. Welp! There is officially no reason to even bother looking at their channel to see what’s on. I’ll just continue to breeze by it like I always do when I’m searching the guide. I was absolutely looking forward to season 2. This wasn’t a smart move, Pop. Hopefully someone smarter will pick up this gem of a show. Smh
Why do Networks ALWAYS cancel awesome shows?!?!? Finally a show was on that was actually funny and seriously made me LOL and you cancel the second season!!! Shame on you!!! This show needs to continue! In a world of horror and uncertainty today I need my comical relief! PLEASE for the love of God someone get the second season in production!!! Netflix HELP!!!!!!
I’m extremely disappointed to hear Florida Girls was cancelled. Was really looking forward to watching a new season. Some other network has got to pick this up!
Absolutely just the networks fault. Just because they have a few other shows with big-name stars. They didn’t put the money into advertising this enough I never heard about it or knew anything about it I stumbled upon it on accident last night and binged it and IF they tried aiming towards a specific audience. Then they completely failed. “Great comedic show” @Netflix pick this up !

Wish we could tag Netflix in this I stumbled upon it last night because the networks didn’t put any money in advertising it and obviously aimed at the wrong audience as it’s not a show I would’ve picked out based on the thumbnail and the description, glad I did best comedy show in a while. #netflix
I totally agree! Even my son keeps asking when season 2 starts! He even thought it was hilarious!!! This definitely needs to be picked up by Netflix! I would watch more!

I agree that Florida Girls showed real Tampa Bay area antics, and was not only hilarious, but also true in many ways. A real shame that Pop choose to cancel this show but continued Schitts Creek.

I loved the first season of Florida Girls! So funny and we really need a comedy! It was fun looking at the Beach Background too. The actresses in that show are beautiful and great to watch! Please make a season 2!
Bummer, I really enjoyed the actresses and felt inspired regularly by how the girls overcame their misadventures in true homegrown Florida style. I haven’t seen a chick show this good since The Mindy Project and Sex In The City.
I’m a dude from New Jersey who wouldn’t typically watch just a random show about four girls living together ,fine and well that you like it because of where it’s shot and you can relate but I stumbled upon it on accident and it’s comedy at its best , they are for real funny. It didn’t get the advertisement it deserved and they shot for the wrong audience 100% PoP networks Fail. someone needs to get on the phone Netflix ASAP
