TV Line reports Netflix has ordered the GLOW TV show. The scripted comedy series is inspired by the 1980s G.L.O.W. (ie., Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) women’s wrestling league.
The new GLOW is created by Homeland‘s Liz Flahive and Orange Is the New Black‘s Carly Mensch. They will serve as showrunners and will executive produce with OITNB‘s Tara Herrmann and Jenji Kohan.
Netflix says:
G.L.O.W.
Inspired by the real story of the 1980’s female wrestling league, the series — set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams — will be the fictionalized story of an out of work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.
Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black) and Tara Herrmann (Orange is the New Black) are executive producers, and the series was co-created by Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange is the New Black), who will serve as showrunners.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the original GLOW TV show? Do you like the sound of the new GLOW TV series? Will you stream the comedy series on Netflix?
I sure hope they use Cheryl Rusa AKA “LIGHTING” as there fight coordinator an wrestling trainer. I hear she has been a stunt woman after GLOW I looked her up on IMDB. In the series GLOW she was a dynamo. She would be a great asset to the producers of the show. Look forward to the new GLOW series.
Super pumped for this series!!! GLOW was awesome!!!
