Life Below Zero returned for its 23rd season earlier this week, and reportedly, that will be its last. National Geographic has also cancelled the spin-offs of the long-running reality series — Life Below Zero: Next Generation, Life Below Zero: First Alaskans, and Port Protection Alaska (which comes from the same producers).
According to Reality Blurred, cast members of the cancelled spin-off shows are now appearing on the final season of the original Life Below Zero series.
The 23rd season features longtime cast members Sue Aikens, Ricko DeWilde, and the Hailstone family, as well as Johnny Rolfe and the Roach family (Life Below Zero: Next Generation) and Gage and Avery Hoffman (Life Below Zero: First Alaskans).
While NatGeo has yet to announce the cancellations, people who work on the shows have confirmed that they’re over, and some cast members have posted about it.
Brittany Rowland of Life Below Zero: Next Generation wrote on her Facebook:
“National Geographic has decided to cancel Life Below Zero’s spin-off shows, including ours, Next Generation. Honestly, we don’t exactly understand why as NextGen has been wonderfully successful.”
It’s not yet known when the series finale of Life Below Zeo will air. The final season of Life Below Zero isn’t expected to land on Disney+ until March.

Terrible decision
LBZ is one of the few shows I look forward to each week. So disappointed to see it end. Best of luck to the cast, I’ve become really invested into their lives.

Why are you going to cancel life below zero and all the spin offs? Every time we start really loving a show or liking it, it’s gone. That’s not fair to the fans and especially the cast and crew who have come so far and who have gone through so much. They are all of our favorite shows.
Please reconsider canceling Live Below Zero. One of the best shows on TV. Look forward to it every season.

Life Below Zero shows were my family’s favorite shows!!! First you canceled Dr.Pol and now these no reason to watch your channel anymore!!!! You made a huge mistake canceling these series!!!!!!!

We have watched all the Alaskan shows since they first aired we really look forward to them we are both so sad
WHY would you cancel the BEST Shows airing on TV today??? This makes NO sense at all. TV is saturated with crappy reality shows and Life Below Zero is the ONLY show I watch AND LOOK forward to watching. I will cancel my subscriptions and never watch NatGeo again!!! This truly sucks

Well, I have no reason to have a TV any longer. These shows were my escape. Now I’m friggin’ stuck.
Once Life Below Zero is done along with Dr Pol I’m done watching Nat Geo. I din’t understand why Disney is making these terrible decisions. Maybe these aren’t “woke” enough for them. Our loss will be their loss when their followers drop off along with their profits.
