Streaming on the Netflix subscription service, Messiah stars Mehdi Dehbi, Tomer Sisley, Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz, Melinda Page Hamilton, Stefania LaVie Owen, Jane Adams, Sayyid El Alami, Fares Landoulsi, and Wil Traval. The show chronicles the modern world’s reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East. Al-Massih (Dehbi) creates a groundswell of international followers around him when he claims to be the eschatological return of ‘Isa (Jesus). Has he been sent by God or, is he a dangerous fraud who’s bent on dismantling the world’s geopolitical order?.
The first season of 10 episodes was released on January 1st. While the show’s season finale left the door open for a second season, Netflix has apparently decided not to continue the story. Actor Wil Traval, who plays Will Mathers in the series, shared the cancellation news via Instagram.
What do you think? Do you like the Messiah TV show? Would you have watched season two of this Netflix series?
I am so disappointed! In a world where we have idiotic reality shows and “do-overs” of old movies, this was a refreshing, well acted and well written show. with an intriguing concept. Please reconsider this decision, Netflix. I loved this show and so did everyone I talked to. Please give us a Season 2!!
This news stinks! Why would you Netflix, cancel a series that is so well loved by everyone I know that watched. This is something I was looking so forward to after all that is going on these days. How can we ( your subscribes) get you to see that this is a great show and we all need a little bit more of it for closure. You cannot leave us hanging like this.
It was a tired and boring show. Very difficult to understand. Was always waiting for that moment it was something spectacular. Dull. Dull actors.
That was a great series!!! Stupid move, Netflix!
Loved the show!!! So dissapointing they’re not doing next season! Can anyone else pick it up?? Its such a good story and production, such a shame….
Good idea! I’d happily drop Netflix if Amazon Prime or HULU picked up where Netflix dropped the ball on Messiah.
It’s hard to believe this show was cancelled. It was terrific – fascinating concept, lots of room for growth and changes. It was very well written and acted. I’m SO disappointed it’s been cancelled. It feels like a poor decision on Netflix’s part. Everyone I knew who watched it, loved it!
Right there with you! It was an exceptional series, nothing like it! All other shows are all the same!
I am sad that there won’t be a second season. I was looking forward to being able to watch another season. I really got hooked and into the story. I think it was smartly written and always kept me on my toes and guessing what will happen next.
Netflix strikes again.
I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE WATCHED MORE !!!
Messiah was well executed and at times very moving. Didn’t the last episode give it away though? Doubtful they all would have survived the plane crash without a scratch and appearing dead to the local residents if he wasn’t the messiah. Regardless, the show seeks to answer a very interesting question- what exactly would the second coming look like if it happened in reality?
I really wanted to know how the Massoud agent would behave after learning he was dead and The Messiah brought him back from dead. So disappointed now.
I loved this show! I couldn’t stop watching until I saw all the episodes. I am very sad there won’t be more. Please reconsider
Please reconsider the series messiah 2 or 3 or 4. There is so much garbage on. There are less intelligent things on but Netflix still has them on. Why? Do the right thing.

So bummed there won’t be a second season.
This was one of the best shows. I haven’t seen a show good as this in a very long time.
