Streaming on the Netflix subscription service, Messiah stars Mehdi Dehbi, Tomer Sisley, Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz, Melinda Page Hamilton, Stefania LaVie Owen, Jane Adams, Sayyid El Alami, Fares Landoulsi, and Wil Traval. The show chronicles the modern world’s reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East. Al-Massih (Dehbi) creates a groundswell of international followers around him when he claims to be the eschatological return of ‘Isa (Jesus). Has he been sent by God or, is he a dangerous fraud who’s bent on dismantling the world’s geopolitical order?.
The first season of 10 episodes was released on January 1st. While the show’s season finale left the door open for a second season, Netflix has apparently decided not to continue the story. Actor Wil Traval, who plays Will Mathers in the series, shared the cancellation news via Instagram.

Typical of Netflix. Keep canceling shows. Soon there will be nothing left. Ugg. Hopefully another network will pick it up!

My wife and I really enjoyed Messiah and are very disappointed it won’t be back. While I appreciate Netflix running experimental TV that will enrage sectors of the population like Messiah and Unorthodox, it’s hard on fans and may affect their decision to take a chance on the next one.
I almost hate to start new Netflix series because they start then cancel so many. At least let the show have an episode or two to conclude and give the audience some closure like you did with Sense 8. Please Netflix, have a heart!

I am utterly disappointed that they have chosen to cancel this AWESOME show. As a result, I will cancel my Netflix subscription. They renew some of the lamest shows but refuse to renew shows that provide depth, character development, and meaning. Bye bye Netflix…I will stick with my HULU, Pluto, TubiTV, Disney+, and Kodi.

I am deeply saddened that the decided to cancel season 2…I’m watching season 1 for the 3rd time. I found a deep and profound message of acceptance and surrender to a higher power in this story… Shme not to see it continue…
It should be illegal to making people wonder and then saying we just cancelled u never know if its real or not. I wish i just sue them just because of this reason… I am so disappointed…
