What the heck? While The Middle TV show is not cancelled, it will end with its upcoming ninth season. Star Patricia Heaton announced on Twitter that season nine of The Middle will be its final season on ABC.
A family sitcom, The Middle also stars Neil Flynn, Charlie McDermott, Eden Sher, and Atticus Shaffer. The ABC comedy centers on the Hecks, a middle-class family, living in Orson, Indiana, headed by quarry manager Mike (Flynn) and Frankie (Heaton)

The Middle: A Look at the Ratings
The eighth season of The Middle averaged a 1.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic with about 6.04 million viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 18% in terms of total viewers. However, when we compare The Middle’s season eight performance against the other ABC TV shows, it was still the network’s sixth best performing scripted TV series, in terms of its demo numbers, and fifth in terms of total viewers.
It seems likely that a combination of creative and financial factors influenced the decision, rather than the series’ solid ratings. The show hails from Warner Bros. Television, rather than ABC Studios, yet this far into a show’s life, the network typically funds the lion’s share of the production. Meanwhile, it is Warner Bros. which owns the syndication rights.
For its first seven seasons, The Middle was paired with Modern Family on Wednesdays, and many credited the latter sitcom for its ratings success. In season eight, though, ABC moved The Middle to Tuesdays, and this little-engine-that-could anchored the night.
At least the writing team has the opportunity to craft a satisfying series finale for loyal fans. Let’s hope they make the most of it. Deadline has confirmed that there will be no season 10 of The Middle.

I love the Middle, have been watching since the first show. Watch the reruns as well. Would have been nice to see grown kids with grandkids. In response to previous posting I loved Last Man Standing also. Was shocked when it was cancelled…
Wish The Middle went away after first two weeks. Horrible horrible. Give me The Walton’s and Little House. Get rid of Last Man Standing as well,!!!!!!!!!!
I love love love The Middle we can’t let it end. It’s one of my family favorite show. The characters are grate. Every episodes is funny and we can wait to see what going to happen next. Truly feeling sad ☹

its a shame that there is ni season 10 th middle helped me when i felt desperate and mad its very comfortable to see funny relaxing no sexuality in it which is good for families.give the middle another chance i prefer it way way better than modern family. thank you the middle for beautiful episodes hopefully we see a new season. they deserve it because they give beautiful classic life stories.

I love the Middle! I am so sad this is the last season. I have three children the same ages as Axel, Sue and Brick. My family has had so many laughs and a few tears as we watched them go through the same milestones. The Middle will forever be part of our journey. We will miss you!

I love The Middle but it’s move to Tuesday night was difficult because I kept forgetting to tune in then. I’d like to see it continue. I watch current shows when I remember to check in on Tuesday, and I watch reruns whenever and wherever I find it. It’s a great show with great writers and wonderful actors. If it is cancelled, I wish them all the best, and I’ll keep watching those reruns.

Have enjoyed The Middle since it’s first season. Would prefer a Season 10, but as Frank Barone said in an ELR episode about a Ray not attending church, “I don’t make the rules”.
Please continue the series. Love the shows and watch the reruns back to back at 9 every night.
