In February, CBS gave early renewals for eleven of the network’s popular series. One cult favorite missing from the list was the freshman romantic series Moonlight. The series had been performing decently on Friday nights but, because of the writers strike, there haven’t been any new episodes in months. The network is producing four new episodes for this season and will begin airing April 25th. Before giving the go-ahead for season two, CBS likely wants to see if anyone remembers the series.
Fans of the vampire series aren’t waiting to see if the cancellation axe falls before starting campaigns to save it. “Operation: Renew Moonlight” kicked off yesterday and the folks from three fan sites aren’t April Fooling around. They’ve united to encourage fans to fill out a campaign form and send it along with a clove of garlic to Nina Tassler, the president of CBS. Check out Moonlight-United.com for more information.
In another effort, fans wanting to draw attention to the series are teaming up with the Red Cross and YouChoose.net for a weeklong blood drive. The campaign plans have impressed series star Alex O’Loughlin enough to become a spokesman for the Red Cross.

The “Blood Drive to Save Moonlight Campaign” will be held from April 18th through April 27th (corresponding with the start of new episodes) in cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. There are over 4,000 pledges to date and fans are being invited to donate their time, blood or cash to support the effort and the Red Cross. Blood drive participants will be given a special t-shirt as a thank-you. For more information, head on over to MoonlightBloodDrive.org.
CBS announces their 2008-09 schedule in May so we should know if the fans’ hard work has paid off by then. Stay tuned!
Moonlight was an excellent show. I certainly hope you are not considering getting rid of it. I never cared for anything involving “vampires” but this show is sophisticated and just plain fascinating. How about returning it? If anyone could keep a show as stupid as The Nanny on for so long, surely, someone will have sense to continue with Moonlight.
What in the world is wrong with the “big wigs” at CBS. Don’t they know when they have an excellent show. Moonlight certainly brought something new to the viewing public. I couldn’t wait for Friday to watch. By the way, wasn’t it voted the ‘BEST’ new drama at the People’s choice awards? Hey, CBS, are you not paying attention to what the people want???? Hopefully, someone else will see the merits of Moonlight and pick up the best show CBS dumped.
Moonlight is a very good vampire-detective series I hope that an other network
picks up the show. Amanda is a Moonlight Fan I really love Mick St. John and
Alex O` Loughlin. Please give Moonlight a 2nd season.

Finally, something different. I love vampire shows, but they always get cancelled after the first season. When will the networks learn we are getting tired of reality shows, and want a dose of unreality in our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard about Moonlight on bebo… and also because its going to air on SAT1 on german satelite (in german unfortunately…but still i get to see it!)
I got curious about it and so watched it on the internet…(because im from ireland….)
Its brilliant and i hope there will be a season 2!
Missing ML on Friday nights. Which leaves us to boycot CBS on Friday nights.

Even though Moonlight was ?vanquished? by The Eye(CBS) of Mordor, fans will continue to fight for the return of their show and to do good works in its name. Figures from the activities held at MoonlightCon 2008 held this past Memorial Day Weekend: – The Saturday auction brought in $6,500 for the Los Angeles Food Bank. – Fifty pints of blood were drawn from fans who attended MoonlightCon by the American Red Cross Blood Drive. – 37 people, who also attended MoonlightCon, were added to the National Bone Marrow Transplant Program registry. http://weblogs.variety.com/on_the_air/2008/05/moonlight-fans.html “Moonlight” fans: Devoted, grateful and worthy of… Read more »
Finally some “fresh blood” to a dreary Friday night…….I remember when Friday night was THE night to watch TV to start off the weekend……Moonlight gave me that renewed sense of something “to do” that I had not felt in a long time……I sure hope this great show is saved to moves maybe to a more deserving network….
They must save MOONLIGHT! This was the best new show of the year… like many others, I looked forward to television on Friday nights just because Moonlight was on. It’s romantic / tragic love story of Beth and Mick mixed with other great characters and character charisma made it great entertainment! CBS had a winning trio going with Ghost Whisperer, Moonlight, and Numbers….the three shows together grabbed the viewing numbers to make CBS the highest watched network on Fridays. Personally I watched Ghost Whisperer and Numbers because they came before and after Moonlight… Moonlight was the highlight of the evening…… Read more »
