CBS won’t be back to The Big Easy for the 2021-22 television season. The network has decided to cancel the NCIS: New Orleans TV series and end it with the current seventh year.
NCIS: New Orleans stars Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and CCH Pounder. Set in The Big Easy, the series revolves around a local NCIS field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel. Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Bakula) is a New Orleans native, is driven to do what’s right, and leads the office. Pride’s team, inside and out of the office, includes tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Ferlito); Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund (Kerkovich); anti-social Special Agent Quentin Carter (Davis); Jefferson Parish Coroner Doctor Loretta Wade (Pounder), Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame (Mitchell); and international counter-intelligence expert Special Agent Hannah Khoury (Zadegan).
Airing on Sunday nights, the seventh season of NCIS: New Orleans averages a 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.84 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Eight episodes have aired thus far.
Of the series coming to a close, Deadline reports that Bakula said, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way… I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
“It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” said executive producers and showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”
It was also announced today that CBS’ Mom sitcom is also ending this season. It’s also been reported that the network is considering a new NCIS spin-off set in Hawaii.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: New Orleans TV series? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled and wasn’t renewed for an eighth season?
I don’t understand you chose NCIS New Orleans that was a favorite of the three NCIS programs I think should been gone would have been Las Angeles I am really sad about this it makes me want to quit watching the other two
We are so sad to see this program end! It’s been one of our favorites, can’t stand NCIS or NCIS LA but this one was a good one!!
Sorry to hear this. We’ve enjoyed the series and will miss the actors . Also enjoyed the music and scenery- very different from us here in Scotland. Thanks for 7 years of entertainment.
I really like Csi New Orleans. Get rid of Csi Los Angeles.
I will definitely miss it and i don’t know anyone under forty that watch’s it
I am very disappointed NCIS New Orleans is being canceled. One of my favorite shows. I hope the network reconsiders.
Very disappointed that NCIS New Orleans is being cancelled. I love the show. Sure hope they’ll reconsider and keep it on.
Hate that NCIS New Orleans ending..happens to every good show on. They usually replace it with something no one wants to watch..☹☹
This is very sad, as I like the ensemble and have followed Scott Bakula since his Quantum Leap days. I suspect a lot of this falls on the geographical area itself. Summers are unbearably hot, Hurricanes always a danger in Fall, and a heavy dose of COVID on top. If it were based Miami, it probably would have the same issues. Probably is driving production costs up prohibitively. Loas Angeles is probably not far behind, but is somewhat more popular and therefore can absorb those cost a little easier. Hawaii…pretty stable on a of those same issues and they have… Read more »
NCIS New Orleans ending just SUCKS!!!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that my sister and I will not watch NCIS Hawaii.
Please don’t take off NCIS New Orleans. It is one of the few shows that is enjoyable.
DISAPPOINTED! YES! My sister and I are also very saddened. Every episode was superb and all the characters excellent. I’ve asked this question before..,WHY is the demographic only 18 to 49???! My sister is 68 and I am 72 and we both know others in our older demographic who also enjoy NCIS/NO . So, WHY can’t the demographic also include 50 and over? It seems like ‘who cares what the seniors like’. Anyway, to all of you who loved watching NCIS NEW ORLEANS yes, it is too bad that another one of the tv shows we became attached to was… Read more »
I agree! I’m 66 and my sister is 70. We both love it, love the music and we both have watched Scott since his Quantum Leap & Star Trek Enterprise days. I have never watched any of the other NCIS shows and will NOT be watching NCIS Hawaii! Big mistake ending this one.
I am almost 77 and NCIS New Orleans is my favorite. So, is CBS discriminating against senior citizens?
I am a native of New Orleans and have enjoyed watching the show from the beginning. I think changing the day and time had to do with the drop in ratings. Please don’t cancel.
WTH CBS are you just going to aim at the lower IQ individuals and go back to the same dumb shows with no plots or stupid acting.
