The ratings for Once Upon a Time took another sizable dip last season but the show remained one of ABC’s top shows. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they grow? Could the show be cancelled or is it a sure bet to be renewed for season five? Stay tuned.
Once Upon a Time follows the continuing adventures of fairytale characters who switch between their storybook world and Storybrooke, a small town in Maine. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Robert Carlyle, Colin O’Donoghue, Emile de Ravin, Jared S. Gilmore, and Michael Socha.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed this series for a fifth season.
Final season averages: 2.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.56 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Last year comparison: The third season of Once Upon a Time averaged a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.08 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you still like the Once Upon a Time TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
The best part of this show is watching the writers on twitter trying to explain away all the continuity errors and accidentally gross behavior after each episode.
I love this show in the beginning and still like it very much. It seems to me that the story lines are getting worse. I know it may be hard to come up with new ideas but a suggestion was made in some one else’s comment to use some of the ideas if necessary in fanfiction to supplement the writers ideas. Take the basic idea and interpet them their way. That way they can still maintain control.
From bad to worse, it’s reached down right ICKY. It’s like it’s campaigning for title of Worst Fairytale of All Time at this point.
This show has to be renewed !! This is one incredible TV show and I hope there are many more seasons to come !! Please Renew and listen to the fans !!
I think it’s a great show. Honestly to be good you need challenges. Once Upon a Time is my life at least leave off with Killian and Emma getting married that I would be happy with. But I still believe that Once Upon a Time should have season five! RAGE QUIT!!!! MORE ONCE UPON A TIME! Every good show that I watch ends so quickly. If Adam and Eddy are out of ideas go to fan fiction or wattpad for ideas! This is so ridiculous!
This is a fantastic show! My sister-in-law, my niece and I watch it religiously and are huge fans. I usually watch it on my DVR the weekend after it airs – it’s a weekend treat for me. We really hope that you renew this series – it’s so creative and fun. You never know what’s going to happen next.
Feel sorry for anyone who starts this show now, believing the quality of the first season is something they can expect to continue. It’s so lazy, sloppy and thoughtless now, you spend more time noting all the mistakes, since there are certainly more of those than there is story being told.
I live in England and for some reason they stopped airing the show after series two (gutted) now watching it on Netflix and REALLY hoping for a series 5!!!Only just started series 4 though but looking forward to all the usual unforseen twists!
Just started watching the show on Netflix and have become ‘HOOKED”. I’m busy most Sunday evenings and now have to watch it online. The show keeps you on the edge of your seat as well as trying figure out what will happen from episode to the next. I really enjoy the depth that the writers have put into this show. Life is about the choices we make and the consequences to making wrong choices. These days its hard to find good shows like this on cable TV even though you pay a hefty price for them. Watching OUAT over again… Read more »
They won’t cancel it. It’s going to die a slow, badly written, miserable death.
Indeed! Just about like Lost!
It’s a terrific series. Well produced. The special effects are well done for TV and I think this show allows women of every generation to travel back to thier childhood and recall the wonderful fairy tails that helped define our childhood. It’s the only show I look forward to watching with my daughter all week. I am not a big TV person, so this show is really special for us. Don’t cancel it. And Robert Carlyle is brilliant!
This is an incredible show, with enough fairy tale and Disney stories/movies to continue for years. It has to have a fifth season, it’s far better than any other series out. It would be a great disappointment to lose it.
I think the show is great but I wish they can show more fairy tale land because that is interesting that is why show show is so unique and good . And I love all originally characters expect for belle but I hope it will be renewed for season 5 .
I would hate to see this show cancelled!!! I love it so much OUAT is my life, it’s the only thing I tcat
Used to love this show until the characters became secondary to shocking plot twists and lost any sense of internal consistency. I think the show runners have lost their way, and am really sad to see such a promising show with so much potential decline.
