TV show description:
This fantasy-dramatic TV show is based on the series of Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon and takes place in both the 1940s and the 1740s.
Quick-witted and beautiful Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) is a married combat nurse from 1945 who finds herself mysteriously thrown back in time to 1743 Scotland. Claire and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, are forced to marry to save her life. A passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Jamie is intelligent, principled, and (by 18th century standards) educated, and worldly. He has a tenderness and compassion that stands out in contrast to his contemporaries. A natural leader of men, he has no political ambitions or desire for battlefield glories. Instead, he wishes to remove the price on his head and return to his family’s ancestral farm.
Claire’s husband in her home time period is Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies), an intellectual and an academic. He served in British Intelligence section MI6 during the war as a spymaster, and was responsible for sending men on dangerous missions — some of whom never returned. With the war now over, he’s looking forward to a new career as a historian at Oxford when his wife mysteriously disappears in the Highlands.
Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) is a Captain in the English Army back in 1743 who has been posted in Scotland during a time when rebellion is in the air. As an officer in an occupying army, he’s seen and done terrible and horrific things in the undeclared war in the Highlands. He’s also a sadist who finds joy in the torment of others — a secret side to himself that he loathes and also has an unhealthy obsession with both Claire and Jamie.
A skilled and experienced warrior, Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) is the War Chieftain of Clan MacKenzie. His older brother Colum is the ruling Laird, but Dougal is his loyal right hand and the true muscle. He is courageous on the battlefield and is feared by many.
The Laird of the MacKenzie clan is Colum MacKenzie (Gary Lewis), Jamie’s maternal uncle and brother to Dougal. Colum suffers from Toulouse-Lautrec Syndrome, a degenerative disease that renders his legs immobile at times, and fills his days with a great amount of pain. Unable to rule by brawn, he must rely on his cunning and intellect to lead his clan.
Mysterious and dark, Murtagh Fitzgibbons (Duncan Lacroix) dutifully watches over his godson Jamie. Although a reserved man, he’s a very loyal godfather, and lives his life by a strict a code. And he’s more than happy to let his reputation and fists do the talking.
The wife of the procurator fiscal and a good friend to Claire, Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) has such advanced knowledge of herbs and plants that many believe she is a witch. Geillis is a master manipulator.

What do you think? Do you like the Outlander TV show? Do you think it should be ending or renewed for a ninth season?
I LOVE this series! And, there are more books to put to screen! 🙂
Watched from the beginning .. best series i have seen since the North and the South.
Love the show ❤
Outlander is an awesome series!! Jamie and Claire’s love story withstands the test of time..travel that is. They are fighting for life, love and survival. A story line unlike any other series, unpredictable. Absolutely finest actors & actresses. Premium costumes, music, cinematography, facts taken from history. There is copious material based on Diana Gabaldon’s novels available to continue the story. This should be considered a good thing. However, many lifetime book readers have unrealistic expectations. Hopefully, there will be sufficient fans willing to accept it as an adaptation. Even though every season/episode has been a favorite…LOVE IT…The show must go on.
Outlander is my favorite show!!! Love, love, love Outlander. The costumes, the cast, the sets, the settings, the music, I love everything about it. Jamie and Claire know how to demonstrate a true love for all times that surpasses all understanding. So braw are many of the ensemble and Bonnie the lassies. Ei have read all of Diana Gabaldon’s novels and can’t get enough of them! They fight issues we fight today. Honor I am so proud to see still exists in their time. Sadly, not so much now. Thrilled the show is continuing and would be even more thrilled… Read more »

I Love Outlander very much as well. I read there was a lot of books written about this show and they were making many of this series. I just want to know when its coming out I am waiting on the 4th season where they come to America! I think when Jamie and Claire are done they could start with their daughter, anything to keep this going I just wish these shows were like at least 20 shows per series and 1 hour plus long and would come out faster lol. Not asking for a lot are we ? lol… Read more »
I love outlander. It’s one of the best series I’ve seen. I had to join show time to watch it and will join again for the finale when it comes out. I will be sorry to see a finale I could watch where series in more episodes if they could keep them going. I suppose it would be a good way to get me to join show time again.
Please don,t cancel before I see Billy Boyd in my favourite show .I think he would have made a good Murtagh as well.
I have read the books and so enjoy the series please don’t cancel I would truly miss the show and always wonder what happened to Claire and Jamie in this series. Love both their stories of life, love and fighting together to live, love and survive.
One of my 2 favorite shows-the other, Americans is to be cancelled-keep this one going using “Great Britains’ ” History to keep it new, entertaining and changing, re characters added and dropped. Transport them to future generations to make their relatively fixed ages fit with “new” background. She knows the future, so in as much as it is somewhat sci-fi, it can be based on reality. The final season can have both of them in real time, with him seeing where it all has led to, including his child, and she can see what she has missed, or have each… Read more »
Let the show run as long as the actors enjoy doing it.
