The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

One of the few network shows I recorded and would watch repeatedly! I loved laughing out loud with this show! I am so disappointed in its cancellatioin!
The fact that I could not DVR Outsourced because of the horrid time slot on NBC is probably one of the main reasons why this show had “no viewers”. I recently got Hulu+, and the fiance and I watched the entire series over 2 days. To hear that this show, a real genuine comedy got canceled makes me think NBC is slightly retarded.
NBC..NOTHING BUT CANCELING…
Outsourced deserved a second season. NBC is definitely a network with no vision.
This sitcom was so good and I can’t believe it is canceled… So refreshing and so funny!
One of the best!!! Please bring it back… every character was amazing, so endearing…
and so much better than the movie… It was a little treasure…please bring Outsourced back!!!
This sitcom was one of the bests I saw the lasts years, since Friends or Nanny I didnt laugh so much. Im so sad about it beeing cancelled. Hope you change your mind.
Marcia, I, too; am saddened by NBC not giving it a second season 🙁
Are you kidding me??? This show was awesome, I agree changing the time slot killed it, oh yeah NBC means Next to Be Cancelled , here comes comcast….
Time slot change kills viewer loyalty
Moving the shows timeslot killed it.
I think there was a lot of subtlties to the show that were lost on a lot of viewers. Growing up in a part of the country (California) that has a large population of Indian immigrants, there was a lot of the show I think was lost on people. This was a fear I had all year, besides the fact that NBC cancels every show I like.
Changing time slots was a disaster. I loved this show but NBC seemed like it had to resuscitate Parks & Recreation for it’s bigger stars. Crap
Show. NBC sucks.
I so totally agree. I tried to like Parks and Recreation, but Outsourced by far made me laugh with tears streaming down my eyes !
Unbelievable. Finally a truly funny show, and it first gets kicked up to the 10:30 slot and now cancelled altogether. What is wrong with those idiots at NBC? What can they possibly offer as a reasonable replacement? I hope I can find the whole season on DVD so I can turn off NBC and watch this delightful show to my heart’s content.
Way to go, NBC. Hope you make lots of money on your next dancing show.
What a crock to cancel a very funny show. I guess this will let the network schedule some stupid reality show or stupid singing show or stupid dance show. Outsourced deserved a second season. NBC is definitely a network with no vision. I’ve been pissed at NBC since they cancelled The Black Donnellys after not even one whole season.
Im really sad of what happened to the show.. all we can wish now if for them to make season 2 and more episodes.. as a call center representative i can relate to the show.. its really fun to think that someone created a show that someone like me can relate to..
I’m from china.this show hits big in my country….well, online of cource.I think nbc should give this show another shot,’cause it’s good for chinese market.the other american show started to make profit here, cutting this show is losing your future nbc people!
