The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

Whatever happened to NBC? How could a very funny tv sitcom like OUTSOURCED be let go. . . Oh, how i wish the network have thought twice because this show seems light and yet easily captures viewers that will crave for more episodes. . . Anyway, congratulations to all the cast of this show and ofcourse, its writer, JOB WELL DONE GUYS!!! I’m gonna miss you all!
Such a wrong move for NBC to cancel OUTSOURCED, the tv sitcom is simple yet funny and interesting. The story and potrayal of each characters in this show was very natural. It saddens a lot of people in my country to know how a good show was just neglected and thrown away without thorough evaluation and review.
i love this show!!!! i was expecting a season 2….to see what would happen with todd and asha……..
the show was incredibly funny and unique why on earth would it get low ratings. i guess too many ignorant people who cant understand cultural humor?
That was one f my favourite shows, it was a totelly new concept, and I think NBC should put on air a second season.
That’s too bad… I love this show and why did the ratings dwindle down?
Great show. I was so looking forward to it this fall. My husband and I’s favorite show besides the Office. Didn’t know the series was based on a movie – just watched it last night, very funny!
i agree with the comments above, i also absolutely love Outsourced, its really really funny. and im so sad there wont be a second season… damn…
I love this show I am really disappointed when I heard it was canceled. I think the problem is the timeslot. I hope other networks will buy this show.
Way to go NBC! Another good one down the drain. Hey I know, why don’t we air another season of Days of Our Lives and branch off Law & Order again… I swear, there are so many pointless NBC shows! Why is it only the good ones get canceled? Who the hell is dropping the ball up in corporate!? F.F.S!
Once again main stream tv is telling us what we can and can’t watch. Outsourced was absolutely hilarious. I haven’t peed my pants that many times watching a show since Better of Ted and Arrested Development. Oh how interesting. Two other fantastic shows that got cancelled for gay crap. Worthless. Its a good thing I don’t waste my money on cable so stupid tv executive whores can get bigger bonuses. Go choke on your steaks.
I think they had an amazing concept but the show was so full of cliches of what Americans perceive Indians to be as opposed to what they really are. They could have made use of this opportunity to showcase some real Indian culture. Also they could have found some better actors. I didn’t see the spark between Todd and Asha at all.
Good idea but poorly executed.
It wa sa family show and NBC had the balls to change it to 10.30 as opposed to 9 and in america, family shows r a big deal. this is ridiculous..if i was another network id get to work and start scripting asap. definitely worth raking in all those munnies 😀
I really hope that they show season two. outsoucerd is very funny.
My husband and I loved watching Outsourced each week! It was the funniest sitcom in a long time. The characters were great! I am going to miss them. I wish another network would pick them up.
