The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

NBC is known for cancelling great shows. There it is again. Instead of keeping a show that no one has seen before, they’ll keep the ones everyone is tired of seeing. Frankly I think outsourced is more brilliant and funnier than the stupid “The Office”.
……..it was a very interesting tv series, and it help me learn a lot of INDIAN cultures,so i must say, i am sad it had to be cancelled, because it is really really funny! and educative.
Was a great show!!! Fit in perfect with community 30 rock and the others. They shut down great shows and wonder why they are not a #1 station anymore!! Brutal!! Hope another station grabs it’s and makes it what it should be, a prime-time worthy hit!

I am now discouraged from watching anything on NBC. Thanks a bunch NBC, you just lost ANOTHER viewer, how does that make you feel?
this is ridiculous!!!!!!!! i loved that show!
I too am very dissappointed they canceled outsource. I thought outsourced had well written material, great plots, and excellent characters. Community on the other hand was extremely offensive, stupid and poor script writers. I hope outsourced can be resurrected on another network and if by chance they go on cable I will gladly sign up just watch this series.
What??? Why ??? It’s the best show ever! I live in Poland, and I watch this show every day…
I’ll miss Gupta and the rest of the team…
Poland asks for a second season 🙂
What a shame !! This was one of my favorites. Being an Indian, I was never been offended by this show. It had an honest side of both the cultures.
I hope some other network takes it !!
I can’t believe “Community” is still on but “Outsourced” is canceled. There is no justice in this world.
Very disappointed to hear this show is cancelled. The writers did a great job not to offend either culture but rather teeter the middle ground. The placement in the schedule was not optimal.
N.B.C is STUPID for cancelling it takes time for shows to pick up, plus they never aired the show the right way for it to catch the eyes of the viewers, what a bunch of idiots hope another station picks it up, aires it, then when it becomes a hit N.B.C then shokes and there station folds.
WHAT????? nooooo there’s gotta be a 2nd season is a major show i laughed my pants off watching it!! from Brazil.
great show, but I knew from the start CERTAIN PEOPLE would compain.
outsourced is AWSOME and hillarious . you HAVE TO BRING IT BACK!
