The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

I really loved the show, after a long time a new sitcom with gud humor.I heard it was cancelled as some people found it racist.F*** dem.I am an indian n i totally loved it.
I think it would racist not to continue the show.
By the way i luv u “Madhuri” 😛
It was soo funny please bring it back
This is by far one of the best shows to come on cable in a long while. So, it didn’t have power house actors that are recognizable to “white america”, but what it did have is a portal into the comedic perception of the Indian way of life. i think if it didn’t air in the summer time and had a solid winter slot NBC would sure have a winner here. I think we need shows like this that don’t show upper class families with their petty problems and endless cash flow. Put it back on the air NBC, because… Read more »
We’re soooo going to miss this smart, funny show.
I’ve had my DVr setup to record new episodes and was wondering why it was taking so long to startup this season. This sucks as it was one of the best shows and I always looked forward to it.
bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally loved the show and would really want to have the season 2…I made my agents watch it and they totally loved it.
Outsourced was one of the funniest shows on TV.
my family loves to watch outsourced! It’s hilarious and well written, BRING IT BACK!
It seems to me the only comedies that stay on tv these days are the ones that require no thinking and have laugh tracks added. Its a shame we live in a society that is just plain dumb.
Why do we need laugh tracks anyways, they are very annoying. Common America are we so lazy that we can’t think for ourselves, now we need a TV show to tell us when to laugh. all I can say is WOW!, we lost another good show.
Bring this show back NBC or better yet, “creators” put it on a better network.
I miss Ghupta!!!!!!!!
i know ghupta and his ghup-tees
Absolutely loved the show, as did all my friends. Bring it back I say!!
I really loved the show.
There are 2 series in the world I’d pay for: the Big Bang Theory and Outsourced.
Both would require particular minimal IQ level to enjoy ALL the humor built into ’em. Strange that the BB Theory runs, during Outsourced is being discontinued..
haha i know i feel the same way
My wife and I are huge fans of the show here in Australia. We’ve been telling everyone we know to watch it. We did the same with amazing race and got heaps of people watching it. We would jokingly claimed that we saved the show. We were hoping to do the same with outsourced. Damn shame. It was a very funny show and certainly made me more patient when talking with call centers. Why do people take notice of those negative goody two shoes!
