Rebel is one of the more surprising cancellations of this television season. ABC Signature President Jonnie Davis is the latest to speak out about the cancellation of the drama series after only four episodes into its season. It appears cancelling the Katey Sagal series was just as hard from the side of the studio.
Davis said the following about the decision made by ABC to cancel the series, per Deadline:
“We love Krista Vernoff, we made this incredible deal with her. There’s no better showrunner in town — and a creator by the way — and we were gut-punched about Rebel. We hoped that was going to get more time to fully find the audience, and if you’re reading the blogs right now, people love that show. We’re still licking our wounds on that one.”
Sagal and others have also spoken out publicly about the cancellation of Rebel. There is still hope the series could find a new home.

I am pissed off that Rebel is being canceled!!! It’s a great show with great acting by Katy Sagal, John Corbett, and Adam Garcia, love them all!! I really hope another network has the sense to pick this show up. I wonder if they’ll replace it with yet ANOTHER reality TV show or game show. Bring Rebel back!!!!!
I cannot believe your cancelling Rebel. This is one of the best shows on tv.
I am absolutely stunned that Rebel was canceled. It has a fantastic story line based on a remarkable women Erin Brokovich. The cast is phenomenal and quite frankly there are so many shows out there that don’t even come close to the quality of this show. I hope the decision makers at ABC realize what a horrible decision this was and reverse course and renew it.
I am truly disappointed that Rebel is canceled. I hope another network will pick it up.

This cancellation really stinks. It is well written, has great characters and a fast paced story. We enjoy it and record it every week. Not sure what determines why a show is canceled.

Love Rebel
Rebel is such a great show with excellent actors and real life story lines. ABC is making a mistake canceling it. I look forward to watching it every week. ABC didn’t give it a fair chance to catch on with viewers. I hope another station will pick it up.
Cancel the Bachelor and Bachelorette, PLEASE! REBEL IS A GOOD SHOW. GIVE THE SOW A FAIR CHANCE TO GET A FOLLOWING. ABC you seem to cancel all the good shows like last year, you cancelled another wonderful show, STUMPTOWN, AND THAT SHOW HAD AN AUDIENCE. Please stop!
I really enjoy watching Rebel! I do not understand the cancellation of this show. It doesn’t seem ABC even gave the show the time to build a solid audience. I hope another network will pick the show up!
I just started watching a few weeks ago on Hulu because I don’t even watch those major stations any more so if they promoted this wonderful show via ABC, I didn’t see that.
But Hulu suggested it and I love it. Wow. To see something of Andy Garcia, John Corbett and Katey Sagal again, I am just over the moon. The writing is smart and the characters are real and some are complicated.
I definitely want more and more.
Everyone I know that watched rebel loved it including my two granddaughters that are 20 and 21. I do not understand how they can cancel some things so quickly. And taking a poll of all the people that I know watch it and that one person disliked it I do not understand how I can get canceled. If there’s anything we can do to get another station to pick it up I would do it
