What’s This TV Show About?
An NBC high school drama from Jason Katims and Jeffrey Seller, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected. Soon though, the faculty, student body, and even the town residents find themselves caught up in the new spirit at the school.

Telly’s Take
Will NBC cancel or renew Rise for season two? The ratings have been pretty poor so a renewal seems like a longshot. However, the series has generated some positive buzz so, that might just be enough to get it a second season. I’ll keep a hungry on the ratings and update this page with breaking developments. What do you think? Were you hoping that Rise wasn’t renewed for season two? Are you sorry that NBC cancelled this TV show?
Rise is cancelled, but Chicago Med stays? Second rate acting and a “been there” story line! Maybe better advertising and start in the fall! Such a bad move on NBC’s part.
Finally a tv program that addresses the real society we live in,and did it with character and passion . Please Don’t stop short of the finish line. Finish the wonderful you have started.
Please renew RISE for a second season. One of the most enjoyable series on TV.
This show is my family. I am an actor, and a child… But every Tuesday my family sits down altogether, like a family should, and watches this show. It breaks my heart to see that this show is cancelled. This is the only show that shares the interest of my whole family. Please… keep the show. We all love it.
We loved the show. Maybe the low ratings were because it was opposite Blackish, a second season show. To bad it wasn’t on one of the nights when there is little to watch on tv. It was a great show.
Please bring Rise back for another season. It was great!!!! It will be missed
Please bring this show back. It is so awesome, has all the feels. Best show since This Is Us!! You are crazy to cancel this.
Very upset Rise is cancelled, can NB C rethink their decision and give the show another chance?
It is a shame NBC has decided to cancel RISE. It was thought provoking, and had depth. It isn’t just another mindless show. It deals with issues many young people are having to deal with on a daily basis. Perhaps your “powers that be” will reconsider.
This is the BEST show on TV! Why would they cancel it?!?!
I hate that Rise will not be renewed. I’m going to quit watching anything that is a series because this ALWAYS happens.
What a bunch of losers NBC…. All these series not on networks without commercials and this is finally a good one and they cancel it… Idiots…..
I’m so upset Rise was cancelled. One of the best shows on TV. Better than This is Us! NBC Big Mistake
I think cancelling this show was one of The dumbest things NBC could do. It was 60 minutes of joy to watch this talented ensemble every week. Now what will we get as a replacement; perhaps another ridiculos version of “Suvivor” for which you need an IQ of 2 to follow.
Please renew RISE for a second season. It is a touching, though-orovoking, beautifully written series. It also gives us THIS IS IS fans a quality, emotion-filled program that helps us get through unil TIU returns. I really don’t feel it was advertised enough.
