The 46th season of Sesame Street will premiere on HBO, Saturday, January 16, 2016. That is nine months before season 46 will be broadcast on PBS, the show’s home since 1969. In advance of its Sesame Street premiere, HBO has released new key art gracing the top of this post, and a trailer. Watch it below.
The trailer features favorites like Ernie and Bert, Telly, Grover, Elmo, Cookie Monster, the Count, Oscar the Grouch, and Big Bird, as well as a Star Wars parody. There are also some boring humans, parents might care to see, like Pharrell Williams, Jon Hamm, Tina Fey, Gwen Stefani, and Tracy Ellis Ross, who gets to have a sleepover with Big Bird, yet complains about it. Whatever, grownups.

The five year deal with HBO has enabled Sesame Street to remain on the air and produce more new content. When it was announced, last August, it was widely reported that the Sesame Workshop had been operating at a loss.
