Although the first season of Shooter earned the highest 18-49 demo ratings for USA Network, Suits came in right below it and was still their most watched program in its sixth season. Since Universal Cable Productions is developing a spin-off, with Gina Torres reprising the role of Jessica Pearson, is the end nigh for this legal drama? Will Suits be cancelled or renewed for season eight? Stay tuned.
Suits centers on ace attorney, Harvey Spector (Gabriel Macht) and his college dropout protegé Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). The USA cast also includes Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, and Meghan Markle. Dulé Hill is joining in season seven as Harvey’s old friend, Alex Williams, a senior partner at the rival law firm of Bratton Gould. This year, Harvey will step up to fill the void left by Jessica’s departure, while Mike is balancing pro bono work with corporate cases. **Update below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The sixth season of Suits averaged a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.601 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you still like the Suits TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for an eighth season on USA?
** 1/30 update: Suits has been renewed for season eight and USA has announced the season 7B premiere date. Details here.
Netflix has Suits on DVD only but Amazon Prime has it sreaming
I would appreciate an 8th season because the stories are compelling and I like 90% of the actors on this show. Actors make or break a show
Love it but like most of my USA shows it will probably get canned. Psyche, Burn Notice, White Collar and Mink all great shows especially compared to their current line if mostly crap (shooter is awesome) they typically drop the stuff the dedicated USA fans like.
I love this show! Just binge watched seasons 1-4 again and I never tire of these characters and the snappy dialogue! Interesting cases too – they don’t talk down to the audience which is rare these days.
renew please!!!! best show ever
I think it should be renewed 🙂
Why does a show with such great content feel the need to use profanity? The reality is that it turns away viewers and detracts from something special.
Very true. The constant cursing does get a bit much. Other then that love the show.
Please don’t let them go! I still want season 8 the most.
could so an eighth season of Suits. I got super hooked on it when I watched it on Amazon. totally want more
Entertaining – characters and story line. I started watching via Amazon Prime and binged my way to latest Season. It is refreshing to view a drama that respects the audience that is tired and offended by all the offensive language used by most all other shows. Keep up the good work!!
Season 7 is bad. Compared to previous seasons, nothing makes sense and since the writers never explain anything, leaving things open to interpretation, questions keep piling up. Harvey’s psychiatrist has been reduced to a joke of a woman, she says things a child would say (is she really a licensed psychiatrist??). One day Donna is a partner, the other she’s a coo, and maybe tomorrow she’ll be a lawyer (because if Mike a fraud did it why not?). It’s sad to see this show losing its charm.
I thought that it was pretty apparent why Donna is in her present job. And a partner (which she was able to get by investing her own money) . And as she’s mentioned repeatedly, you don’t have to be a lawyer to be the COO. A COO, chief operating officer, just means that she’s the manager of the firm, you don’t need a law degree to do that. Suits season 7 is not a bad show. It’s just clear that you haven’t been paying attention. Honestly given your facile reasoning, you should be the last person to call anyone childish.
One of the best shows on!
I like the show. I have been watching from the begining, and would like to see more of that photo-memory of Mike’s. His ability to recall anything was great and thats what got him where he is. Watching Harvey evolve is nice. Turning the secretary Donna into a COO is a bit far fetched. Thats a heck of a leap. She seemed to struggle actually performing business deals with “The Donna”, and now she is COO. Whatever. Louis is still hard to watch. How can he continue to be a partner, with such a child like attitude. He could be… Read more »
I have been watching “Suits” since its debut and loved it ever since. If it were cancelled, I would be very disappointed; there are not enough interesting shows to watch on television.
Just as long as the story line remains intriguing, I really hope USA and the producers continue the show.
Please renewed for another season many more seasons to come. One my favorite show.
