Is Suits nearing its end? In a recent interview with E!, star Patrick J. Adams spoke about the future of the USA Network series.
The legal drama just premiered its sixth season on Wednesday, and series creator Aaron Korsh said he’s “98 percent” sure the show will be renewed for a seventh season.
In the E! interview, Adams said season six feels like the beginning of the end:
It kind of does, and I don’t know if I get in trouble for saying that kind of thing, because who knows how long these things last, but ultimately, I think shows last usually a certain amount of time and our show isn’t a CSI, and it doesn’t have the words CSI or NCIS or whatever in front of it.”
He added that he thinks show has at least one more season in it:
I don’t think it’s designed to be a 15-year show. I think we have another season in us, for sure, of interesting story, maybe more depending on where we go after this prison storyline. There is some part of it that feels like it’s quietly starting to end itself, and I think everybody sort of feels that.”
What do you think? Do you watch Suits? How many more seasons do you think the show should last?
I don’t think Suits should ever end. I love everyone in this show. Please bring it back.
Love this show and I think it could lasts. Just wish they would stop GD swearing. They must say it 20 times in one show
Mike should go back to the Firm as a Consultant, get his Degree at Harvard. They could also do a Spin-Off Show with Mike and Rachael taking on ‘Innocence Projects’.
The show is Fantastic. Loved it from the Beginning. The show is fast passed and makes you think. Here is how I think it should go. Mike stays on with the Firm as a Consultant. This would be legal and still create interest.
He’s right. I mean do they take us for idiots? How many times can a lawyer waltz in and out of a prison? And Mike acting like a lawyer from prison? Come on! The writing, and even the acting, is subpar. It is like the writer’s are sitting around saying: OK, let’s do a scene at the law office. Then a scene at the prison. And then let’s do that 6 times per show every show all season.
You’re done. It was good. But you’re done.
I’ve been trying to find out what exactly changed, and why it is so glaring and jarring to the show’s long-term fans. And, what’s more important, what can we do about it? Are these people listening?
So listen up new writers. Here’s the problem with your “new” Suits: Everything is forced. Every conversation is confrontational. The fabulous subtlety of the show is gone. Please man up or woman up and go get the S1-S4 writers to come and help save the show.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. That’s exactly what is wrong with it, it feels forced and it takes all the pleasure of watching it away.
The new writing, or writers, are really ruining this formerly great show. Sara is right. They used to say so much with their faces, but now they are overly scripted and over-dialogued. Come on guys. This show deserves better.
I was wondering the same thing — what happened. the show used to be gritty, the characters were authentic .. now the writing is pathetic and the actors seem so rigid.. even Donna can’t pull it off and Louis — talking about his wood, GAG. is the writer 12?!! I can’t even watch Rachel. Something def changed, it started in S5. too bad it was good. Gabriel, time to bail.
I too think there are new writers. This season is TERRIBLE. I’m only watching one more episode and if things don’t’ get better, I’m done!
Awesome show, please please produce more of this wonderful viewing . . . Australia/ NZ loves it !
did Suits get entirely new writers? the lines are so icky and damp, even Donna’s fizzle sputters out: “excuse me?” she retorts after being called out as too white to be “black in here”–but no, it’s okay, cause she dated the hottest black musician before, or was it after?, his last album dropped. Score for white appropriation as she walks off, leaving the black receptionist speechless. Jessica catwalks with perfect smirking placidity throughout her scenes, while Harvey grimaces again and again with frustration and sympathy for poor fluttery Rachel. And all the progress we’ve seen Mike achieve these past years… Read more »
couldn’t agree more. they completely lost their edge … the acting, writing both gone limp. difficult to watch. except for Harvey (Gabriel) somehow he manages to keep it interesting.
Season 6 stinks …if this was season 1, I would have stopped watching after the 2nd episode. It’s more black in here. WTH?
This new season of suits is horrible…it is as if there is new writers or something. I mean horrific…It is disappointing…I don’t even know how much longer I can watch. I don’t even look forward to it as I have in past seasons. I am so sad for the characters…it was such a great show until this season. Makes them look like third rate soap opera characters. Please either put it out of its misery or bring in some writers who can write a story line.
spot on.
This new season is terrible, the writing is bad and stilted and the jumping back and forth between story lines is awful…I hate all of it and I’m a big fan. Is there a new writer or director? I almost tuned out the very first episode…and the second was just barely watchable. I am sad.
agree – the writing in S5 + S6 is juvenile … something def changed. very sad
I love this show and hope it never ends! I love all the characters, some more than others. I can see this lasting for another couple seasons for sure. Have to say that a great job was done on casting and the writers are not too shabby either, to say nothing of the acting. Rick Hoffman is a great actor and has played his character with finesse. Meghan Markle was saying how incredible a scene it was when Louis saw the sign with his name added .. it WAS! I hope he can go back to being the old Louis.… Read more »
The is already here. It happened the moment they officially out Mike.
