We already know that the Survivor TV series won’t be cancelled soon since CBS previously greenlighted season 42 for spring. Could that be the end of this competition series or, is one of the network’s most popular unscripted series essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a 43rd cycle? At what point will CBS cut this show back to one cycle a year, ala ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and The Voice on NBC? Stay tuned.
A competition series, the Survivor TV show is hosted (as always) by Jeff Probst. In this 41st edition, aka “Survivor 41,” 18 new players are relocated to the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji and are divided into three tribes — Luvu, Ua, and Yase (the Fijian words for flood, wave, and lightning). The castaway competitors are Eric Abraham (51), Heather Aldret (52), Erika Casupanan (32), Genie Chen (46), Ricard Foyé (31), Xander Hastings (20), Evvie Jagoda (28), Danny McCray (33), Naseer Muttalif (37), Deshawn Radden (26), Brad Reese (50), Jairus “JD” Robinson (20), Tiffany Seely (47), Sydney Segal (26), Shantel “Shan” Smith (34), David Voce (35), Liana Wallace (20), and Sara Wilson (24).
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances of survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
12/16 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: Season 39 of Survivor on CBS (which aired Fall 2019) averaged a 1.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.42 million viewers.
Note: These are the final national ratings, including all live+same day viewing and DVR playback (through 3:00 AM). Early fast affiliate ratings (estimates) are indicated with an “*”. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the Survivor TV series on CBS? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a 42nd season?
Cancell used to like survivor but same with Big brother not watching either on CBS
I am a huge fan of survivor because these are real people. However when the jury votes for who they like verses who outwited outplayed and outlasted I am disappointed that this epic show has lost its purpose and reasoning.
let me guess you think xander deserved it which can be debated
Cancel it! Has turned into a woke disaster, not what the American people want to watch, we get enough of that from the nation news.
I absolutely have been loyal fan for all 40 previous seasons but the stupidity of season 41 and the totally unbalanced black vs white and mostly idiots have driven me away from your apparent attempt to change the dynamics of this used to be awesome show!! Goodbye
Tried to watch it but it just blows. Tired of all the puzzle making contests. This is survivor, not let’s do some puzzles.
Although I’ve been a fan of this show since the first episode – I don’t line the way Survivor has changed. There’s too many twists and turns in 41. I’m in favor of immunity idols but that’s it when it comes to twists. The show is named Survivor. The show isn’t named Princess Contestants. The show has gone too soft trying to not hurt anyone’s feelings and to include every walk of life. If one were to look back at the 40+ seasons they would see that everyone has been represented to the contestants comfort level. Shame on you CBS… Read more »
The show has changed too much over the years, and now we are not the demographic viewership they want.
I will never watch again. Bunch of princesses who don’t have food yet are not hungry.
We have watched every season of survivor but will never watch it again. Really you had to stop saying “come on in guys”. That is so ridiculous
We have watched every season since it first aired and this is the worst season we have ever seen. It is a combination of epic fails, starting with Jeff asking if anyone is offended with him saying, “come on in guys”. This can of worms never ever needed to opened! So many more reasons why this season is the worst but space is limited!
Worst season ever. My favorite show has been ruined. Done!!
Watched it 20 years. Season 41 is bad. I am done watching.
I have been watching survivor for 20 years but I will never ever watch it again
Agreed.
You can cancel Survivor and Big brother and CBS for allowing these woke politics to ruin good programs.
Love it….unless they go the route of Big Brother. If they “fix it” like Big Brother it will falter and die.
