Episode 01-01 & 02: Monday, 9/26/11
The two hour premiere attracted a 3.1 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 9.22 million. It was in third place for the timeslots and surely a disappointment for FOX considering the production expenses and promotion.
On the positive side, the two hours showed very good retention which means that most people who tuned in kept watching until the end. That’s a positive indicator for next week.
When you compare this with last season’s 8pm premiere of House, the network was down by 24% in the demo. On the positive side, Terra Nova improved over last year’s quickly-cancelled Lone Star premiere by 238%.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Terra Nova TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

I love this show! Please don’t cancel it, it’s actually a good show that’s on a Monday. I got several of my friends to watch it and they love it too. I love it so much, I haven’t missed an episode yet.
Should be cancelled. Bad acting and ever worse writing have doomed the show. Predictable, cliched, boring and full of plot holes. 85 million years in the past for the colony, 65 million years in the past for the asteroid that takes out the dinosaurs. Where to start on what is wrong with this series. An escaped convict from the future is made a sherriff of Terra Nova. Not needed when you have a benevolent? military dictatorship and because it is a military operation shown to have no real legal forum, he would have been exiled immediately. His son would have… Read more »
Love Terra Nova!! It is an innovative TV show. I used to enjoy Land of the Lost. I believe that was the last show with dinosaurs. I don’t get all the negativity. Jurassic Park it isn’t, but this is not a movie. I am so happy to have more sci-fi type shows. I hope it is not canceled.
this show is great ! i have gotten more and more people hooked on it. it will become the next LOST if the FOX is smart and renews it. i love it !!
Please font cancel of of the best new shows this season, in prime time who have so navy police dramas and dr shows this was a pleasant change
I would have expected this sort of show of syfi which does well with haven also bbc america has tried to cancel priveil but the voice of the people saved it
Same hit be said with terra nova
This is a very meh show. It’s not awful, but we wouldn’t miss it if it were gone. Considering the budget, I don’t think that’s the viewer reaction Fox wants.
Love the show…haven’t missed an episode yet!
Keep it!!!! Great family show! Brings the family together for a great nite of tv!!!
I love this show it’s exiting I absolutely love this show it’s exciting plot twists and secrets endless possibilities. I haven’t enjoyed a show this much since Lost was on the air. I truly hope they don’t cancel it. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
Terra Nove, finally something to look forward to on Monday night’s. Great concept, good story line and unlimited potential. Canceling would be a mistake in my opinion.
I really like this show which seems to be the kiss of death. About the only show to survive me liking it is Dexter. I hope that Terra Nova is re-newed for a long time. It has a lot of possibilities and most of the other good sci-fi shows have already been canceled. Not sure why the budget would have to be so gigantic.
I love this show. It is full of suspense. It reminds me alot of Lost which I loved too.
I love the show, wish they would show more dinos chasing people and the like . but you can’t have everything really do like it though.
Better get renewed one of the best shows on tv and the story can go anywhere, they would be stupid to cancel
I enjoy watching this show and thinks it has good potential. I can see where this show is going with the secrets, backstabbing, politics and so forth. You can’t see the dinosaurs all the time, you have to see the people who made the decision to go back in time, surviving and so forth. They have to make a living back in time, making sure they are safe and not killed by disease or the dinos themselves. I see some people watching to see the dinos and being disappointed when they only see people living and surviving. I am guessing… Read more »
Problems is that Quality TV has changed in the last 15 yrs. Cable scripted programming is where most of the progress is now. Terra Nova is another sci fi blunder on broadcast unwilling to ask unique Intelligent questions. Instead its uses broad ideas and absolutely no organic character development. The Recent episode of Terra Nova demo slipped after the 3 week hiatus. Which leaves you with 2 possible scenarios. 1. Fox will not reconsider a renewal due the 20 million expense of just the pilot. 2.If they go ahead with the renewal. It will come back with a lower budget… Read more »
And the Chicago code was one of the best shows on TV!!!!
