Emma and Charles won’t get to continue to work things out during the 2023-24 broadcast season. ABC has cancelled The Company You Keep, so that it won’t return for a second season.
A drama series, The Company You Keep TV show stars Milo Ventimiglia, Catherine Haena Kim, William Fichtner, Tim Chiou, Freda Foh Shen, James Saito, Sarah Wayne Callies, Felisha Terrell, and Polly Draper. Sachin Bhatt recurs. In the story, Charlie Nicoletti (Ventimiglia) is a masterful high-stakes con man who commits crimes with his family. He also runs a bar with his bossy older sister, Birdie (Calles). Their con parents are former steelworker Leo (Fichtner) and his wife, Fran (Draper). Meanwhile, Emma Hill (Kim) is an undercover CIA officer. Her father, Joseph Hill (Saito), is the patriarch of a political dynasty and is married to Grace (Shen). Emma’s brother, David (Chiou), is an incumbent Senator running for re-election. Charlie and Emma meet and a night of passion leads to love between two people who are unknowingly on a collision course professionally. While Charlie ramps up the “family business” so he can get out for good, Emma’s closing in on the vengeful criminal who holds Charlie’s family debts in hand — forcing them to reckon with the lies they’ve told so they can save themselves and their families from disastrous consequences.
Airing on Sunday nights, the first season of The Company You Keep averages a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.23 million viewers. It was one of ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and total viewers compared to other shows on the network.
The show added 70% more viewers in the live+7 day ratings, but that was not good enough to secure a second-season renewal.
The first season of 1o episodes finished airing last Sunday night.

THE COMPANY YOU KEEP is one of the better shows that genuinely deserves a 2nd Season. It’s clearly in the category of being an initial outing that really needs more than one season to find their audience. Great cast…very intelligently written scripts and plots—all very believable. GREAT acting and chemistry between the two leads, Charlie and Emma, AND the entire Nicolettia family of grifters. Also a significant inclusion of an Asian-American family with a lead female. Both my husband and I loved this show it was extremely entertaining and something new to watch for a change.

Ridiculous! They continually produce shows that are almost reruns of past old school series and when an original comes along like The Company You Keep they cancel it.
This program was so well constructed, from writing to direction. In some dramas where the plot involves a complex ‘con’, it is often difficult to follow what is happening. This show made it easy to follow without dumbing it down. Also, the characters had good chemistry plus were very attractive to watch. It was one of my favourite new programs.
My husband and I both are upset that Company You Keep was canceled. It was something different that doesn’t have half a dozen spinoffs of the same thing. I would gladly protest if I knew how. There was enough protest that I think SWAT was brought back for 1 season and then moving to another channel.
What is the matter with you? It’s a great show. Thank you god that it wasn’t another “REALITY SHOW ” & what do you do. You cancel it. I can only hope another network is smart & picks it up.

I loved watching The Company You Keep! So disappointed that it is not returning for season two. Please reconsider not cancelling the show! I couldn’t wait week after week for the next show!
I loved this show. Couldn’t wait for each new episode. Best new show on. The characters were great. I am so disappointed! I hope someone else picks it up. It was fresh and a totally new idea for a show..
Ridiculous! Hooked on this show. Figures they’d cancel something halfway original. Let’s all write to ABC and complain to see if they’ll uncancel it like CBS did with SWAT *and* NBC to see if they’ll grab it if and when ABC won’t reverse course–they know Milo’s worth after This is Us was a proven commodity. If we want it to happen, we can’t just complain here and wait. CONTACT ABC AND COMPLAIN! Let’s get it back on!
The Comoany You Keep is one of the few shows that I watch. It’s very disappointing that ABC is not giving it a chance to grow more viewership with a second season. All of the actors did an excellent job. I’m hoping that another network will pick it up. ABC is making an error in judgement.
