Though ABC didn’t have much luck with their Eastwick drama, the network is trying another kind of supernatural series, The Gates, for the summer months. Will this one make it to season two?
The Gates revolves around a big city cop who moves his family to a quiet gated community where many of the residents aren’t exactly what they appear to be. The ensemble cast includes Rhona Mitra, Colton Haynes, Frank Grillo, Janina Gavankar, Chandra West, Luke Mably, James Preston, Marisol Nichols, Skyler Samuels, Travis Caldwell, Victoria Platt, and Justin Miles.
The series debuted on Sunday, June 20th, to an unimpressive 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.78 million viewers. Considering all of the network’s promotion, this was a disappointing start. The premiere ranked first in the demo and second in total viewers for the timeslot.

In week two, viewership for The Gates dropped by about 30%. The demo fell to a 1.1 rating and total viewership came down to only 3.24 million. That put the show in second place in the demo and in third place for viewers.
Though ABC has lower expectations for this summer show, the ratings do not bode well for the show’s future on the network. Unless more people start watching, it’s hard to imagine that we’ll be seeing season two.
For now, let’s hope they show all 13 episodes of season one. The Gates is expected to run until September 19th but, with ratings like these, it’s not hard to imagine the network replacing them with something else.

I loved the show I think it should stay on I love these type of show there interesting and it like takes you on a imaginary adveture of what if the world was really like that. Hope I don’t get disappointed.
I loved the. Gates. And was looking forward actually excited for season 2 to start and. Now to find out is canceled was very upset I hope they reconsider am a huge fan.
The Gates…. IS …the BEST in a Looooong time…. Keep playing it Please. There is so many that I know watch it. I don’t know how the ratings couldn’t be right there with a lot of other shows. If you haven’t seen it from the start, watch it before you judge. It is so much more stimulating than LOST.
The Gates is 1 of the best shows if seen on tv and when i’ve seen the last ep and found out that the show was canceled it was like “WHY DID THEY DO THIS?”.

I hope ABC gives this show a chance, I stumbled on it and was really surprize.
I was a fan of TRUE BLOOD, but it’s ran off the track and has to many sub plots .
If ABC brings THE GATES back they will have a lot of EX TRUE BLOOD fans.

They are crazy for cancelling the gates. Like Nikki said, people travel over the summer, hence the poor ratings.. But even that isn’t enough to warrant a total cancellation of the show.. Charlie went evil and the Radcliffe family are at a critical juncture.. There were just too many unanswered questions that could all be answered on a second season.. I am officially boycotting ABC for this.. The Gates is a show that deserves another crack at it.. The way season one ended, I doubt they will struggle with figures and a fan base..

The Gate And FlashForward Have Been Cancel 2 out of 4 shows I’m Watching on ABC Nework. If we are not watching our favorite show on these network and they cancel those shows we like, do they realize they have cancel us as well? After all these years these networks don’t realize it takes time for viewer’s to grow? I hope they wake and realize Veiwers do matter! the gates is the best mistical caracters and drama series i’ve ever watched. I really loved it so did much of my friends. really disappointed there isn’t gna be a 2nd season!

I personally loved the gates. As did quite a few if my friends. However launching a new
Series during the summer months is difficult as people do travel quite a bit. I am very disappointed that there will be no season two!!
WON’T be watching ABC anytime soon….. Which doesn’t matter NBC… CBS…. TNT still have great shows to watch.
