Last year, The Magicians TV show was still working its Nielsen ratings magic for Syfy. The show ranked number one in the demo and slipped to number two, just behind the freshman outing of Krypton. Now that it is back for a fourth season, will the spell still hold? Will The Magicians be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, The Magicians stars Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy, Jade Tailor, Brittany Curran, and Trevor Einhorn. The supernatural Syfy drama follows Quentin Coldwater (Ralph) and his friends as they hone their magical abilities and fight off evil threats. Last year ended with The Monster finding a mind-wiped Quentin. In season four, it will also seek out the others, and something else, as well.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like The Magicians TV series on Syfy? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
1/22/19 update: The Magicians TV show for a fifth season on Syfy.
I believe it has already renewed for season 5 despite these pathetic ratings. I think that next season will be it. Of course, SYFY keeps renewing ratings garbage like Wynonna Earp over and over, so anything could happen.
This is literally the only show that can hold my attention between seasons of Game of Thrones. I scour every channel and streaming service available to find something remotely interesting to watch and almost everything else falls flat. I am at a complete loss as to why it isn’t completely dominating in the ratings.
Please keep The Magicians on the air!! This is literally by far one of the best shows the SYFY channel has created, other than The Expanse:). The acting is fantastic, the writing, directing, music, production.. everything about this show is done so well! And the best part is that even though it’s a show about magic, it deals with real world problems and topics, and the characters respond in ways that anyone would in real life. I have been hooked on this show since the first episode, and have rewatched it so many times I can’t count!:) I know I’m… Read more »
Love it!! Don’t cancel, PLZ!!
The Ratings are starting off horrendous compared to past seasons. Thank goodness for the fans it was already renewed for season 5. I am surprised that the ratings are this awful.
Well you complain about ratings of other syfy-shows are bad and not this one. Surprise, surprise. But you can’t put two shows from different channels together and look at the ratings. Different channels have different ratings.
Just wanted to say it cause im so tired of you…
I’m so tired of you also. When USA and SYFY are both owned by Comcast(THAT’S RIGHT! Both Owned By Comcast) there is ZERO reason why shows on USA and SYFY should be treated differently, except out of pity and stupidity. Comcast has plenty of money to pour into both networks. If anything, you get rid of the network that gets lousier ratings. That would be SYFY. That would be the logical thing to, but logic doesn’t work with you.
Well, the show lost a lot of viewers like me, who hated having feminism shoved down our throats. Absolutely nothing wrong having strong female characters; however, to purposely make every single male character weak, is a turn off. Watched the first five episodes of season four and stopped…..won’t be back.
Yep… the overly sjw tone is why Im no longer tuning in too.
