Talon’s fight is nearly over. The CW has cancelled The Outpost TV series so it won’t have a fourth season (or a fifth season, depending on your numbering preference). The series finale airs on October 7th.
An adventure-fantasy drama series, The Outpost stars Jessica Green, Jake Stormoen, Imogen Waterhouse, Anand Desai-Barochia, Aaron Fontaine, Adam Johnson, Izuka Hoyle, and Jaye Griffiths. The story centers on Talon (Green), the lone survivor of the “Blackbloods” race. When she was still a child, a ruthless mercenary gang slaughtered her entire village. Now that she has come of age, Talon has come into a mysterious power. In season three, Talon finds herself betrayed by her own kind, after summoning Zed and his Blackblood comrades to save the Outpost. She struggles to reconcile her human friends and her heritage.
The extended third season of The Outpost averages a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 397,000 viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 50% in the demo and down by 33% in viewership.
The cancellation doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. Here’s why. The network ordered 13 additional episodes for the third season prior to season three’s October 2020 launch. The CW then split up the third season into two parts with a six-month break. The second batch premiering in July.
A little over a month ago, a CW representative confirmed to us that the second batch of episodes was still considered as part of season three. However, on Twitter, executive producers Jonathan Glassner and Dean Devlin have both referred to the current episodes as season four. In addition, even The CW’s own streaming platform refers to the current episodes as season four.
If the show had had a chance of being renewed for an actual fourth season, the network would have made an effort for everyone to be on the same page about the numbering. It seems likely that, when the final 13 episodes were ordered, it had already been decided that they would end the show.
I love this show. So sorry for canceling it. All the good shows being canceled. What going on CW
This sucks! I love this show and so of course it’s cancelled. They all grew into their characters very nicely and it’s for nothing! Hope Netflix or Hulu picks it up.
I am for one disappointed. I look forward to this show every Thursday until the last 3 weeks in our area they knocked the show off to show high school football and move the show on Sunday. This is the worst news ever! No wonder it didn’t get a lot of people watching it. Keep moving the show around with no warning. It was fantasy with a slight medieval touch and Talon gave women power. I’m Really Disappointed!!! CW!!!! I have bought seasons 1 and 2. I am still going to buy season 3 and hopefully 4. They always cancel the Good fantasy shows. Hope another network picks it up!! Very unhappy!!! Bring It BACK!!!!
I really like this show, but with the numbers I get why they canceled it. It feels like the story is finishing though, so at least we get a proper ending.

I was beginning to really like this show. It had a little of everything. too bad that it is being cancelled. Not too much good programs anymore.

Damn, hearing about this really breaks my heart. The CW which usually basically renews everything chooses this wonderful show not to renew. I am definitely going to miss The Outpost. Loved watching Jessica and she had really taken her role as Talon to the next level. The rest of the cast was really good as well. I developed a great fondness for everyone on The Outpost and always looked forward to watching it. I can’t believe another of my shows is being cancelled. I have watched this from the beginning, and thoroughly enjoy it. It’s something different from the usual programmes that we continually get. It seems that when we get something different, they cancel it. It makes you wonder is it worthwhile watching the programmes, if once you are hooked they cancel it. It’s very disheartening.
They take off all the good shows and put some new stupid ones on to replace them Talon and her friends will be missed
Wow, usually the CW is good on keeping shows. I don’t like the decision to cancel it whatever their reason. Ratings? Perhaps if they’d stop ******** around with the night and time slot, more folks may be watching it.
Another GREAT show thrown in the trash. Sorry to see this show gone. CW makes a big mistake on this decision.
