TV show description:
From creators Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi, The Resident TV show is a medical drama. The story follows Dr. Devon Pravesh (Dayal), a newly minted resident, as well as Senior Resident Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Czuchry), and their colleagues at the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.
Although Chastain Park’s motto is, “Committed to excellence,” the hospital is staffed with human beings, and humans are flawed. Once Devon gets to see beyond the institution’s well-appointed façade, replete with a harpist in the lobby, he must face the truth about medicine and its delivery.
Although he is yet to complete his residency, Conrad is already beating his own path. As Devon’s supervisor, he insists on total obedience. Despite his rough-edged, take-no-prisoners approach, he cares and recognizes the same spark within Devon.
Conrad has no regard for Chief of Surgery Dr. Solomon Bell (Greenwood). He knows the old man abuses his position to cover for his many, sometimes lethal mistakes. Bell is also not above using Dr. Mina Okafor’s (Wilson) visa status over her head, to ensure he gets the credit for her hard work.
Then there’s nurse Nicolette Nevin (VanCamp). She and Conrad used to be involved, but these days, her dating profile specifies, “No doctors.” There’s still something between them, though, and she makes Conrad want to be a better doctor and a better man.
This medical procedural provides a behind-the-scenes look at the state of medical care, from the highs of ultra-precise, hi-tech robotic surgery to the lows of petty vanities and the craven quest for profit. Still, behind it all lies the everyday goal of saving lives.
Series Finale:
Episode #107 — All Hands On Deck
Conrad is pulled away from celebrating Gigi’s 6th birthday when Sammie comes into Chastian with a 104-degree fever, and Kit must call in a favor for treatment. Meanwhile, a heart arrives for Governor Betz’s transplant surgery.
First aired: January 17, 2023.
What do you think? Do you like The Resident TV series? Should this TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a seventh season on FOX?
The resident should be renewed
what the heck did Fox just do. Are they serious ? cancel the best medical show they have ever had ? very dissapointing. Ilove the show and i only watch Fox because of the show. They have to renew it.
I totally love this show and the actors. One of the best medical shows there was. Every time they get rid of a medical show, they add a different one to take its place. Seems pretty dumb. Code Black had been a favorite of mine and they cancelled it. I think the Resident took its place and it was a really good show. They came up with Good Sam which was stupid and so beneath the actress (she was best as a cop in Chicago PD).
THEY NEED TO STOP CANCELLING THE FAVORITES.
Fox made the worst decision and cancelled the best show on their network. Done with them ✌️
A very bad decision to cancel one of the very best shows on TV. Very disappointed with FOX TV. It was on it’s way to becoming TV classic. Again, a very bad decision.
No this series should not have been cancelled. The writing was compelling, the story line has a lot more that can evolve.
I loved the Resident, what the heck, why the heck did they cancel the Resident. It was a great show, I can’t believe another great show canceled, what is wrong with these people that are in charge of deciding who gets canceled and who doesn’t. They keep all these crappy shows on like ghost, night court, Survivor, young Sheldon, the Bachelor and The Bachelorette and more what kind of stupid programs are these people who decides and who stays and who goes we want the resident back on.
I agree with you about the Resident. I also agree with you about the cappy shows you mentioned above…………..all except one which I hope they never cancel, and that is SURVIVOR.
Love the show and the characters. One of my favorite Fox shows. Keep it going.
I loved this show. Both medical and true life of each doctor. Besides The Good Doctor The Resident was my other medical drama I watched. Please don’t cancel it.
Yes………both really good, but I do love Chicago Med also. Now they said that are cutting that series down to less episodes, and the the actors that we know and love will not be in all of the episodes. Looks like a prelude to cancel them all next year. I will miss Chicago Wednesday since they are doing it to Chicago Fire and Chicago PD also.
To clarify: The show just wasn’t the same when Nikki died.
I do agree. They shouldnt have killed her off. They should have made something else happened to where she could come back if she decided to. I think she was busy with some of the Marvel movies at the time. Conrad and Nic did make it special though. In the last season they made Conrad look rediculous by going from one woman to another after grieving for year…then to end up with her best friend??? Who wrote that crap. Maybe that is why they cancelled it.
We just learned that the Resident has been cancelled. Not surprising since they killed the show when Nikki died. Just want the same afterward.
Ann intelligent show which highlights doctors abilities to diagnose difficult cases. Deals with focusing on their job regardless of what’s happening around each character’s personal lives. Love it!!!
The Resident is favorite show on television! Enjoy characters…and stories! Watch, tape and many times we watch again!!
The Resident. my favorite show
